Girls Wrestling Results Saturday, January 24th
Audubon, Kuemper and South Central Calhoun At Atlantic Invite
South Central Calhoun had an outstanding day with Goldie Davis earning a championship, Kuemper had a strong day with five girls placing in the top 6, led by Rylie Massey and Audubon wrestled five girls but had three outstanding performances, led by Macy Rasmussen nearly having a huge win in her championship match. The Titans finished in 3rd place, battling all afternoon with SWAT for 2nd. They scored 127-points, just a half point from finishing in 2nd place. South Central Calhoun went 20-13 in matches wrestled with 19 wins by fall and a major decision. The Titans earned the only individual title for the area teams. Kuemper tied with Clarinda for 6th place with 86-points, a point in front of Atlantic. The Knights were 16-20 in matches wrestled with 14 wins by fall and two by decision. Rylie Massey paced them with a 2nd place finish. Audubon scored 62-points with 5 wrestlers, finishing in 13th, just 4-points behind ATU-Tri Center. The Wheelers were 9-8 in matches wrestled with all 9 wins by fall. They had two girls go 3-1 with Macy Rasmussen finishing in 2nd for their top finish.
Goldie Davis continues to be impressive for South Central Calhoun, going 4-0 with all four wins by fall. She was dominant in the final period in her 100-pound championship match, earning a pin at 5:39 against Mya Van Beek of Raccoon River Northwest. Emery Kramer went 4-1 with all four of her wins by fall, taking 3rd, Ella Baker finished in 2nd, going 2-1 with both wins by fall. Miea Hefley had a strong day, going 4-1 with three wins by fall and a major decision. Hefley finished in 3rd, as did Dee Sease, who went 3-1 with all three of her wins by fall.
Rylie Massey led Kuemper, going 2-1 with both of her wins by fall, finishing in 2nd place. Riley Sommerfeld, Sadie Smith and Cara Schuette all went 2-2 with Sommerfeld and Schuette winning both of their wins by fall and Smith earning a pair of wins by decision. Lucy Potthoff went 3-3 with all three of her wins by fall.
Macy Rasmussen came seconds away from winning a title for Audubon, falling in the championship match 8-7. She had Katie Biscoglia of Raccoon River Northwest on her back late in the 2nd period but time ran out and she trailed 8-7 going into the final period. She fell 8-7 but wrestled a great match, finishing in 2nd place, going 3-1 with three wins by fall. Elena Harbour was strong, wrestling very aggressive while finishing 3-1 with three wins by fall, taking 3rd. Jordan Mulford went 3-2 with all three of her wins by fall, finishing in 4th.
