Coon Rapids Bayard nearly rallied back from down 27-points early in the 3rd quarter to trail by 7-points with a 1:30 left and had a chance to maybe tie or win the game. Treynor held them off with a 4-0 run to close out the game and earn a win on the road. The Cardinals defense was aggressive and physical early, forcing Coon Rapids Bayard to play faster than they want, forcing a lot of turnovers. The Crusaders averaged just over 10 turnovers a game but had more than that by half. Treynor controlled the backboards in the 1st half and looked to have it sealed after starting the 3rd quarter on a 6-0 run to grab their largest lead of the game. The Crusaders went on a couple runs in the 3rd, getting the deficit down to 16 but the Cardinals answered to lead 53-32 entering the 4th quarter. The Crusaders switched defenses and got Treynor out of the rhythm they had been in all game, hitting 10-3’s. They showed good patience but the shots stopped falling and Coon Rapids Bayard did a better job on the boards. They chipped away at the deficit, pulling within 62-55 with 1:30 left on a three from Cal Heydon. Treynor responded with a pair of free throws from Alec Lovely, sealing it with a basket with 0:06 left.
Cal Heydon tied the game at 2 early but Treynor controlled the 1st half. They jumped out 902 and answered a pair of Cal Heydon free throws with an 9-0 run. Cal Heydon hit a three to end the 1st quarter but Treynor led 18-7. A 5-0 start to the 2nd quarter for Treynor pushed their lead to 23-7. Cal Heydon hit a pair of free throws, pulling Coon Rapids Bayard within 23-9 but Treynor answered with a 10-0 run. Riley Lauver shot the ball well from deep as Treynor hit 6-3’s in the 1st half to 2 for Coon Rapids Bayard. Ty Heydon stopped the 10-0 run with a three and Cal Heydon hit a free throw but Treynor led 36-15 at half.
A quick 6-0 run by Treynor off a pair of steals and a defensive stop, pushed their lead to 42-17, their largest lead of the game. Coon Rapids Bayard answered with a Caden Oswald basket and went on a 9-0 run with Bryce Lewis hit a three. After Treynor answered with a three, Lewis hit another three and Coon Rapids Bayard was down 45-27. The lead grew back to 21 but Caden Oswald drained a three from the left wing. The Cardinal responded with a three to end the 3rd quarter, up 53-32. Treynor led 60-39 a couple minutes into the 4th when Coon Rapids Bayard went on a run, Cal Heydon had 6-points during the run and Jace Baker had a bucket at the rim. The Crusaders were down 60-47 and had a chance. Treynor got a free throw but Ty Heydon scored, making it 61-49. Treynor added a free throw again but Cal Heydon had a basket and free throw, then hit a three after a Cardinal turnover and Coon Rapids Bayard was down 62-55 with 1:30 left. The Cardinals held on to win by 11.
Cal Heydon had 28-points and 9 rebounds with 5 blocks for the Crusaders. Ty Heydon added 8-points and 6 rebounds and Caden Oswald added 9-points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals.
The Crusaders fall to 11-1 overall and head to Paton Churdan on KIKD 106.7 on Friday.

Glidden Ralston hit 4-3’s in the 1st quarter as they shot the ball well. The Wildcats led 20-9 late in the 1st quarter but West Central Valley went on a 6-0 run to end the 1st quarter down 20-15. West Central Valley defense improved in the 2nd quarter and Glidden Ralston turned it over several times, leading to transition baskets. Glidden Ralston battled foul trouble in the 2nd and trailed 29-26 at half. A 13-2 run by West Central Valley to open the 3rd quarter, stretching their lead. The offensive woes continued for Glidden Ralston, scoring 7-points to trail 45-33 entering the 4th quarter. Carson Peters got hot early in the 4th, helping Glidden Ralston cut their deficit to eight. That was as close as they could get and West Central Valley edged back out in front to win 60-49.
Carson Peters had a team high 18-points with Dawson Majerus adding a nice double-double with 11-points and 10 rebounds. Alex Daniel gave the Wildcats three guys in double figures with 10-points. Blayce Nelson added 6-points and 4 rebounds.
Glidden Ralston falls to 2-10 overall and will host Ar-We-Va on Friday.

A tough 3rd quarter as the difference after the Rockets had played well in the 1st half. The 1st half was close all the way through with Paton Churdan holding a tight 13-11 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. The game remained close in the 2nd quarter but Ogden started to find a rhythm and tied the game at 25 at half. The Rockets struggled on both ends of the floor in the 3rd quarter, allowing Ogden to build a lead. The Bulldogs outscored the Rockets 19-4. Paton Churdan battled hard and kept competing in the final stanza, scoring 21-points but the defense didn’t get the stops they needed and Ogden held on to win 64-50.
Blaise Schilling led the Rockets with 12-points along with 5 rebounds. Phoenix Hartman had 11-points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Trevon Keely added 10 points and Bryce Stephenson had 9 rebounds and 5 points.
The Rockets fall to 4-8 and will host Coon Rapids Bayard on Friday on KIKD 106.7.
