Coon Rapids Bayard led at the end of the 1st quarter but struggled from the floor in the 2nd quarter and Treynor got their offense going, taking the lead at halftime and holding off the Crusaders in the 4th quarter for a 52-39 win. Missed shots at the lane, struggles from the free throw line and the Cardinals outscoring them 24-6 from three was the difference in the game. The Crusaders learned a lot from the game, which should benefit them the rest of the season.

Treynor led early, getting a three, then holding Coon Rapids Bayard scoreless from the field for most of the 1st quarter. Anna Hart, Malia Clayburg and Ashtyn Klocke all hit a free throw as the Crusaders attack the lane and got to the free throw line a lot early. Ella Heithoff tied the game at 5 with a pair of free thr0ws. Aubrey Hofbauer drilled a three from the right wing, giving Coon Rapids Bayard their first lead at 8-7. Anna Hart pushed the lead to three with a pair of free throws and Hart kept the Crusaders with the lead, scoring on a layup, making it 12-9. hart added another bucket and Coon Rapids Bayard was up 14-9 at the end of the 1st quarter. Malia Clayburg hit a free throw early in the 2nd quarter and Coon Rapids Bayard led 15-9. A 7-0 run gave the Cardinals a 16-15 lead. Ashtyn Klocke scored to give the Crusaders the lead but Treynor went back up 18-17. The Cardinals closed the half with a 9-0 run and led 25-17 at half.

The Cardinals started the 3rd quarter with a 9-1 run, pushing their lead to 34-18. The lead grew to 39-20 but the Crusaders fought back with a 6-0 run to end the 3rd with Anna Hart hitting a pair of baskets sandwiched between a pair of free throws by Ella Heithoff. The Crusaders trailed 39-26 going to the 4th quarter. An Anna Hart three to open the 4th quarter, pulling Coon Rapids Bayard within 39-29. Treynor answered with a three before Malia Clayburg scored inside, giving her 1,000 points in her career. Treynor stretched the lead back to 17 at 50-33 before Coon Rapids Bayard closed the game on a 6-2 run with Anna Hart scoring 4 points and Malia Clayburg scored a basket.

The Crusaders fell to 9-3 overall as they head to Paton Churdan on Friday on KIKD 106.7.

Glidden Ralston rallied in the 4th quarter to earn a nice win at home on Friday in a tight game. The Wildcats started slowly on defense, down 17-12 at the end of the 1st quarter. Both defenses dominated the 2nd quarter as the teams combined for 10-points. The Wildcats were down 21-18 at half. Jenna Subbert continues to shoot well and Kennedy Thooft had a strong game inside. That helped the Wildcats control the 4th quarter. Their defense was stingy, led by Kassidy Wenck, Jenna Subbert and Chloe Peters. They held West Central Valley to 7-points as Glidden Ralston took the lead for good and held on to win 47-41.

Jenna Subbert led the Wildcats with 15-points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Kennedy Thooft added 11-points with Chloe Peters scoring 9-points with 3 steals. Kassidy Wenck added 3 steals and Bryn Renze blocked a pair of shots.

The Wildcats improved to 6-6 overall and will host Ar-We-Va on Friday.

Paton Churdan had the game slip away in the 4th quarter on Thursday, getting outscored 18-6 in the final stanza after keeping the game close and leading throughout of the first-three quarters. The game was tied at 24 going to the 4th quarter but the offense went cold for Paton Churdan and Ogden heated up. The Crusaders trailed 9-8 at the end of the 1st quarter and were down 13-12 at half as both defenses played very well in the 1st half. Both offenses found a rhythm in the 3rd quarter and Paton Churdan knotted the game heading to the 4th.

Alivya Smith led the Rockets offense with 13-points and Kaliyan Minnihan added 9-points.

The loss drops the Rockets to 2-10 overall as they prepare to host Coon Rapids Bayard on Friday on KIKD 106.7.
