Kuemper had a nice bound back win on Friday, shooting the ball well from deep in the 1st half, then holding off an early 3rd quarter run to beat Atlantic going away. Kaylie Simons hit 5-3’s in the 1st half as the Knights built a 39-15 lead. The defense was outstanding as the girls played with high energy on both sides of the floor. Morgan Masching had a strong defensive game holding Makenna Schroeder to 6-points, with all of them coming early before Masching switched onto her. Atlantic made a run in the 3rd quarter, cutting the deficit to 39-31 but a Knights timeout settled the girls and they scored a couple quick buckets and built a 51-33 lead by the end of the 3rd quarter.
Kaylie Simons and Elsa Tiefenthaler both had 19-points to lead the Knights with Simons hitting 5-9 from deep and Tiefenthaler adding 5 rebounds. Charlotte Hackfort had good night shooting from deep, hitting 2 of 4 shots, finishing with 14-points. Addy Anthofer pulled down a team high 12 rebounds and Alivia Schenkelberg added 6 rebounds.
The Knights improved to 6-3 overall and will head to Denison Schleswig on Tuesday.

Carroll battled hard on Friday, making a pair of runs in the 2nd half against the 10th ranked team in Class 4A,. They held them to 54-points but a Comets run in the 2nd and early 3rd quarters gave them enough space to hold on as Carroll fought back late. Analia Ayala hit a pair of 3’s to held the charge late as Carroll pulled within 11 in the 3rd and within single digits in the 4th quarter. The Tigers came out sharp in the 1st quarter, trailing 15-13 going to the 2nd quarter but foul trouble slowed them in the 2nd quarter, allowing the Comets to stretch their lead to 29-20 at half. It grew into double digits early in the 3rd before Carroll pulled within 11. A Comet run to end the 3rd gave them a 44-30 lead going to the 4th quarter.
Ali Kock had a strong game in limited minutes with 17-points and 6 rebounds, Chloe Kock added 13-points with 10 rebounds and Analia Ayala added 11-points with 4 rebounds and 5 assists.
The Tigers fell to 5-5 overall and will head to Gilbert for a big Raccoon River Conference game on Tuesday.

The South Central Calhoun defense was impressive on Friday, cruising to a road win by not allowing more than 6-points in any quarter. The Titans held Storm Lake St Mary’s to 6-points in the 1st and 3rd quarters, giving up 8-points in the 1st half and 10-points in the 2nd half. The offense was strong with Blair Schleisman and Macie Dorman leading the way. They built a 15-6 lead at the end of the 1st quarter, extending it to 29-8 at half. They poured in 18-points in the 3rd quarter to seal the win.
Blair Schleisman had a team high 18-points with 5 rebounds with Macie Dorman adding 16-points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Sadie Wheelock had another strong night on the boards with 10 rebounds.
The Titans improved to 3-8 overall and will host Webster City on Monday on KIKD 106.7.

Coon Rapids Bayard jumped out early and built a big lead with a great defensive effort, leading 30-7 at half. The Cougars fought back in the 2nd half as the Crusaders were down a player and had lost focus. They held on for the win, improving to 7-2 on the season. The defense was terrific all game as they finished with 16 steals. That helped them create offense with Ashtyn Klocke stepping up big. The Crusaders had five players score between 6-points and 13-points. Coon Rapids Bayard led 19-5 at the end of the 1st quarter and were up 23 at half before being outscored 15-8 in the 3rd quarter and 16-8 in the 4th quarter to make it tight.
Anna Hart ended the game with 13-points, 5 assists and 8 steals, Ashtyn Klocke had 10-points and 7 rebounds and Malia Clayburg had 10-points and 4 steals. Ella Heithoff added 7-points and Aubrey Hofbauer scored 6-points to go with 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
They improved to 7-2 overall and will host Panorama on Monday.

The Spartans played just their second game since the holiday break and their first game since last Saturday. They started slowly on offense and needed the defense to carry them until they found their rhythm. They did that in the 2nd half, breaking off the rust as they started to knock down shots and pull away. They finished the game with three players in double figures with Jaelynn Petersen leading them with 17-points, Taryn Petersen with 14-points and Kadence Sporrer adding 10-points.
Exira-EHK improved to 8-1 overall and the 8th ranked Spartans will host 14th ranked ACGC at Audubon on 93.7 KKRL on Saturday afternoon.

East Sac played well, moving the ball pretty well on offense against the defensive pressure by Emmetsburg. They settled down in the 2nd half after Emmetsburg built a comfortable lead at half, up 29-12. The E-Hawks were able to use their defense to create good opportunities on the offensive end, going up 16-5 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. The Raiders were better on defense in the 2nd half, holding the E-Hawks to 8-points in the 4th quarter.
Sarah Bontrager and Jordin Carroll both had 6-points with both adding 3 steals. Miranda Gerdes had 5-points and 4 rebounds and Maggie Veit had 5-points.
East Sac falls to 4-7 overall. They will host Storm Lake St Mary’s on Friday.

Paton-Churdan hosted Ar-We-Va in a battle of the Rockets and a Rolling Valley Conference matchup. P-C was searching for their 2nd win and first in the conference while Ar-We-Va was in search of their first win of the season. Both teams came out in different looks as P-C came out in a full court press which dropped into man-to-man. Ar-We-Va came out in a 2-3 which changed to a 1-3-1 after some gametime. P-C was able to attack and kick well, and AWV got to the line to make their buckets. Ar-We-Va’s first 4 possessions were jumpball,s which resulted in 2 quick turnovers. P-C went up 15-8 after 1. In the 2nd, it was much of the same as both teams battled back and forth with P-C going up 23-15 at the break. P-C came out hot on defense in the 3rd and held AWV scoreless. In the 4th both teams got some bench pieces in to see good minutes as P-C wrapped up a 52-18 win. P-C moves to 2-8 on the season while AWV falls to 0-10.
