Bishop Heelan hosted Kuemper in a girls-only varsity matchup. Kuemper came in at 5-2 while Heelan sat at 7-0 and ranked 2nd in 4A. The Crusaders came out fast and physical on defense, jumping out to a 16-0 lead. Addy Anthofer hit a layup before yet another un by Heelan. Elsa Tiefenthaler nailed a 3 before the 2nd quarter to trail 42-8 after 1. The Knights struggled to match the intensity but had a couple of good looks. The 2nd was a lot calmer as Heelan went into the half up 50-8. Heelan put their foot back on the gas in the 3rd with a 20-6 quarter for a 70-14 lead after 3. In the 4th, both teams let their bench players see some reps as the Knights would fall 77-28 on the road. They take on Atlantic on Friday.

Paton Churdan struggled early against West Bend Mallard on the road, falling behind 30-5 at half in a 56-22 loss. They got a 2-point basket from Kaliyah Minnihan and a three from Alivya Smith. They offense heated up in the 3rd, scoring 12-points as they were able to get some shots to fall. Alivya Smith hit 3-3’s with Kaliyah Minnehan adding one shot from deep. The defense held West Bend Mallard to 9-points in the 4th quarter.

Alivya Smith led the Rockets on offense with 11-points and Kaliyah Minnihan added 9-points.

Paton Churdan falls to 1-8 on the season and will host Ar-We-Va on 93.7 KKRL on Friday.

A great defensive 3rd quarter propelled the Crusaders to a road win over AHSTW. The defense held the Vikings to 3-points in the 3rd quarter, allowing Coon Rapids Bayard to take a strong lead into the 4th quarter. A slow start put them behind in the 1st half, falling behind 15-12 at the end of the 1st quarter and 25-24 at half. The offense was consistent, scoring 16-points in each of the first-three quarters. They led 36-28 going to the 4th and held off a rally.

Aubrey Hofbauer had another strong game with 16-points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Anna Hart finished with 14-points, 7 assists and 7 steals, Ashtyn Klocke had 12-points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals and Malia Clayburg added 10-points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals.

The Crusaders improved to 7-2 overall. They head to CAM on Friday.
