Carroll Boys took on #1-ranked Ballard on Tuesday evening. The game tipped off 30-35 minutes late as the girls’ game went to double overtime, but the legs still looked plenty fresh. The Tigers held strong early as it was a 1-2 point game for plenty of the first quarter. The Bombers closed the quarter hot as they would take a 17-10 lead. In the 2nd, Ballard started to find a rhythm. Bryce Abbott had a 16-point first half and played well offensively. The Tigers had it close but trailed by double-digits at halftime. Carroll had a couple of key turnovers in the 3rd and missed some shots as they fell behind by 20 at one point. To close the 4th, the Tigers played well ,but Ballard showed their muscles as they closed the game with a 16-point win. The Tigers played great defense, but now have a bounce-back game with North Polk on Friday.

IKM-Manning responded well to AHSTW hitting a buzzer beating three to tie the game at the end of the regulation as the Vikings outscored the Wolves 20-11 down the stretch to send the game to overtime. The Wolves responded with clutch plays from Brock Kusel, Ashton Ahrenholtz and Wyatt Danner on defense and those three and Ben Ramsey on the offensive end to control the overtime to win by four. The Wolves never trailed and led by as many as 13 in the 2nd half. A few bad possessions late in regulation opened the door a crack and AHSTW jumped through, ending regulation on a 10-3 run. The Wolves were clutch from the free throw line in overtime and nearly sealed the win in regulation with Wyatt Danner hitting a pair of free throws to put them up three with under 0:20 left.

Wyatt Danner and Ben Ramsey combined for nine points early as the Wolves went up 9-0. Brock Kusel kept the early run going with a bucket to lead 11-2. AHSTW began to chip away late in the quarter, getting a three from Evan Harder, pulling them within 13-7. Ashton Ahrenholtz grabbed an offensive rebound and scored to give the Wolves up 17-9 but it was cut to 17-11 at the end of the 1st quarter. AHSTW pulled within 17-13 but Ben Ramsey made a free throw and Wyatt Danner scored a bucket on a great baseline drive. The Wolves led 20-13 but AHSTW went on a 7-0 run, tying the game at 20. Ben Ramsey hit a pair of free throws and a three and IKM-Manning was back in control and led 27-22 at half.

Ben Ramsey hit a three and Karsyn Lorenzen scored to give the Wolves a 32-22 lead in the 3rd quarter and Wyatt Danner added free throws and a bucket to make it 38-28. Karsyn Lorenzen knocked down a three to give them their largest lead at 41-28 but AHSTW got a few threes from Evan Harder and cut the deficit to 45-39. Brock Kusel bounced in a three to end the 3rd quarter and the Wolves seemed to be in control, up 48-39. Ben Ramsey hit a three early in the 4th and IKM-Manning led 52-41 but the Vikings went on a 6-0 run, pulling within five. Ramsey added another three but AHSTW went on a 9-2 run to pull within 57-56 in the closing minute of regulation. Wyatt Danner hit a pair of free throws and the Wolves were up three with under 0:20 left. Kiptyn Lamp caught a pass on the left wing and was looking to get the ball to a teammate for a late three but the Wolves defense didn’t give him any space. He faded away with a 0:01 left and hit the three at the buzzer, sending the game to overtime. Ashton Ahrenholtz opened the overtime with an offensive rebound and hit a pair of free throws. AHSTW tied the game at 61 but the Wolves got free throws from Wyatt Danner and Brock Kusel and led 65-61. A Wolves turnover led to a Viking layup, pulling them within 65-64. Ben Ramsey answered with a pair of free throws and Wyatt Danner sealed it with a free throw, giving them a 68-64 win.

Wyatt Danner had an outstanding all-around game with 20-points and 6 rebounds and made several key plays on both ends of the floor down the stretch. Ben Ramsey added 25-points and 7 rebounds, Ashton Ahrenholtz had 10 rebounds and 6 points and was huge on the boards and on defense and Brock Kusel had a few key defensive plays down the stretch, adding 11-points and 5 rebounds. Karsyn Lorenzen added 4 assists.

The Wolves improved to 5-4 overall and 4-4 in the WIC heading into a road game at Tri Center on Tuesday.

The Rockets rallied from down by 10-points with 3:00 left to win a physical game at home on Tuesday. A change in defense and some shots beginning to fall helped with the rally. Ar-We-Va was able to get into the lane all game but the shots didn’t fall a lot through nearly three quarters. A few kick out shots fell and the Rockets kept attacking the rim, getting to the free throw line, shooting 26 free throws. Wyatt Ragaller put the Rockets up early in the 4th quarter and Hayden Studer hit a big shot late. The Rockets led by five with 0:38 left but Missouri Valley banked in a three to pull within two. Wyatt Ragaller made a free throw with 0:15 left and Missouri Valley missed a long three at the buzzer, giving the Rockets the 53-50 win.

Wyatt Ragaller had a team high 18-points with 3 steals, Hayden Studer had 14-points and Devon Ehlers had 7-points and 6 rebounds.

The Rockets improved to 6-4 overall and will head to Paton Churdan on 93.7 KKRL on Friday.

Audubon won their second game after the holiday break, dominating their game with LoMa. The Wheelers defense was strong all game, allowing the Panthers to score in double digits in only the 3rd quarter. They gave up 4-points in the 4th quarter and 6-points in the 2nd quarter. The offense was consistent, scoring in double figures in all four quarters. They led 15-8 after the 1st quarter and 25-14 at half. The Wheelers took control in the 3rd quarter and blew it open with a dominant 4th quarter.

Jorgen Nowatzke had a team high 20-points and 3 steals with Brody Schultes adding 10-points and Brody Weber with 9-points. Austin Christensen had 6 rebounds and Aiden Kjergaard  and Carson Wessel both had 3 steals.

The Wheelers improved to 6-5 overall and 3-4 in the WIC. They host AHSTW on Friday.

The Crusaders won a strange game where they dominated early and then struggled in the 2nd quarter, allowing the Bulldogs climb back into the game. The game was tight going to the 4th quarter but the Crusaders pulled away to win comfortably. Coon Rapids Bayard scored 30-points in the 1st quarter and led 30-5 but struggled in the 2nd, scoring 7-points with Boyer Valley pouring in 20-points. The Crusaders defense struggled in the 3rd quarter as well, giving up 22-points, allowing Boyer Valley to pull within 57-47.

Cal Heydon had a huge offensive end with 30-points along with 5 assists. He added 7 rebounds and was strong defensively with 3 blocks. Ty Heydon added 13-points and 13 rebounds, Bryce Lewis had 14-points and Caden Oswald added 10-points and 5 steals.

The 8th ranked Crusaders improved to 8-0 overall and 6-0 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They host Earlham on Thursday.

Glidden Ralston recovered from a slow start but fell short on the road, though their offense erupted in the 4th quarter. They fell down 13-0 in the  1st quarter but Colton Rohrbeck and Landon Rohrbeck started the rally with several big defensive plays, leading to some baskets. They were down 17-12 at the end of the 1st quarter. The energy stayed with Glidden Ralston in the 2nd quarter, tying the game at 25. Carson Peters hit a three and Blayce Nelson hit some big shot during the run. CAM responded with a 6-0 run and led 31-25 at half.

Glidden Ralston took their first lead in the game, opening the half with a 10-3 run. They led 35-34 midway through the 3rd quarter but CAM answered with a mini run to close the quarter up 38-35. The Cougars led grew to nine early in the 4th quarter but Glidden Ralston responded, pulling within  three with a minute left. CAM held the Wildcats scoreless in the final minute and stretched their lead to win 67-59.

Landon Rohrbeck, Alex Daniel and Colton Rohrbeck all scored 11-points with Landon adding 5 rebounds and 3 steals, Daniel had 3 steals and Colton finished with 4 rebounds. Blayce Nelson added 9-points and 6 rebounds, Dawson Majerus had 8-points and Greyson Renze scored 7-points.

The Wildcats fell to 2-7 overall and 1-6 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They host Tri Center on Thursday.

Woodbine got a pair of strong offensive performances, especially in the 1st half as they built a big lead against the Rockets.  The Rockets offense kept pace in the 1st quarter, getting strong performances from  Trevon Keely and Phoenix Hartman. The Tigers locked down on defense in the 2nd quarter, taking charge by half. Woodbine led 43-22 at half after allowing 5-points to the Rockets. The Rockets battled back in the 3rd quarter, cutting into the deficit but the Tigers were able to regain traction in the final stanza to win by 21-points.

Trevon Keely had a team high 16-points to go with 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Phoenix Hartman added 13 points, Cayden Stream had 11-points and Bryce Stephenson had 6 rebounds.

The Rockets fell to 3-5 overall and 3-3 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They head to West Bend Mallard on Thursday.

The 2nd and 4th quarters were the difference on Tuesday as the Titans were outscored 35-23 in those quarters combined in a 58-47 loss. They outscored the Falcons 24-23 in the 1st and 3rd quarters combined. No other details were reported.
