Area Girls Wrestling Results for Monday, January 5th
South Central Calhoun, Audubon and Carroll at Kuemper Tournament
Kuemper hosted 12 other schools in their home tournament this Monday. 3 of our area teams competed at the meet as South Central Calhoun, Audubon and Carroll all were at the meet. Kuemper was the most successful as a team as they would take 2nd of the 13 with 135.5 team points. Carroll came in 4th with 128 points, 5th was SCC with 116 and Audubon came in at 6th with 108 points. For some teams this was the first meet back from a two week holiday break and for all of the teams it was the start of the second half and the countdown to state qualifying meets later in the year.
Kuemper had one champion as Sadie Smith would take first with 3 wins by fall. She had eclipsed 100 wins recently and is looking sharp. Riley Sommerfeld continued a good season with a 2nd place and two wins by decision. The Knights had Anna Schuette, Cara Schuette, Lucy Potthoff, Kaylie Wolterman, and Aurora Badding all take 3rd.
Carroll had a pair of champions during the evening. Emma Grossman had 2 wins by fall after a bye for a 1st place. Emma Daniels followed the same suit for a championship. The Tigers had two 3rd place finishers as well in Maggie Dirkx and Destiny Riesselman.
South Central Calhoun had two 2nd place finishers as Emery Kramer Picked up 2 wins by fall and Dee Sease had 1. Goldie Davis, Meia Hefley, and Ella Baker all took 3rd as well for the Titans.
Audubon was the final team as Macy Rasmussen took some hardware home with 2 wins by fall and a major decision for a championship. Elena Harbour picked up 3 wins by fall for the 2nd championship for the Wheelers. Jordan Mulford had 2 wins by fall for a 2nd place as well.
