Exira-EHK took charge early but Glidden Ralston battled in the 2nd half, playing even with the 8th ranked Spartans. The Spartans experience and physicality were the difference early as Jaelynn Petersen was tough inside and Taryn Petersen and Zoey Rasmussen were hot from the outside. Exira-EHK led 19-6 at the end of the 1st quarter, extending it to 46-16 at half. The Wildcats got a big 4th quarter from Jenna Subbert with four made 3’s, helping them score 31-points in the 2nd half.

Jaelynn Petersen and Taryn Petersen each scored 3-points early as the Spartans went up 6-0. A Chloe Peters basket pulled Glidden Ralston within 8-4 but the Spartans got back-to-back 3’s from Zoey Rasmussen and Taryn Petersen, putting the Spartans up 14-4. Petersen drained another three at the end of the 1st quarter to put the Spartans up 19-6. Kassidy Wenck scored for Glidden Ralston to start the 2nd quarter and Jenna Subbert added another bucket making it 23-10. Jaelynn Petersen took control inside, going to the free throw line, hitting four in a row as the Spartans went up 27-12. Zoey Rasmussen drained her second 3, stretching the Spartans lead to 33-14. Taryn Petersen added to the Spartans run with a three and they led 40-14, having gone on a 13-0 run. Exira-EHK ended the 2nd quarter the way they ended the 1st quarter with a three, this time from Zoey Rasmussen. They led 46-16 at half.

Jaelynn Petersen had back-to-back baskets midway through the 3rd as the Spartan pushed their lead to 59-24. The lead grew to 61-24 with  a Harlow Miller free throw. Glidden Ralston cut into the lead with baskets from Jenna Subbert, Chloe Peters and Bryn Renze. Subbert got hot from deep in the 4th quarter, finishing the game with four 3’s and a team high 20-points, helping them pull within 21-points as 67-46.

Taryn Petersen paced the Spartans with 30-points along with 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Jaelynn Petersen had 21-points and 10 rebounds. Zoey Rasmussen added 9-points and Riley Miler had 4 assists.

Jenna Subbert paced the Wildcats with 20-points with 3 steals. Chloe Peters had 8-points and 3 steals with Olivia Squibb adding 8 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Spartans improved to 7-1 overall and 6-0 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They host Woodbine on Friday. Glidden Ralston falls to 5-3 overall and 4-2 in the Rolling Valley Conference as they head to CAM on Tuesday.

Coon Rapids Bayard was sharp on defense, making 22 steals and holding Ar-We-Va to 13-points in the 1st half. The defense led to offense as the Crusaders led by nine early. They pushed the lead to 24-6 at the end of the 1st quarter as Aubrey Hofbauer and Malia Clayburg were rolling on the offensive end. Ar-We-Va made a run midway through the 2nd quarter behind Hallie McCollough but Coon Rapids Bayard led 49-13 at half. The game was in continuous clock in the 2nd half, limiting the opportunities for both teams as the Crusaders outscored the Rockets 19-3.

Aubrey Hofbauer paced the Crusaders with 18-points to go with 3 steals, Malia Clayburg added 14-points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 8 steals and Anna Hart had 10-points with 4 steals. Ella Heithoff had 4 steals and Lauren Cook had 6-points and 7 rebounds.

Hallie McCollough led Ar-We-Va with 6-points with Mara Obrecht adding 4-points. Vivian Blackford finished with 3 rebounds.

Coon Rapids Bayard improved to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the Rolling Valley Conference and will host Boyer Valley on Tuesday. Ar-We-Va slips to 0-8 overall and 0-6 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They host Missouri Valley on Tuesday.

East Sac tough schedule continued on Saturday against undefeated Westwood on the road. The Raiders hung tight early though they turned the over allowing the Rebels to get some easy baskets. They trailed 14-8 going to the 2nd quarter before Westwood got rolling on both ends of the floor, building a 29-12 lead at half. The Raiders settled in during the 2nd half, executing on the offensive end with Reese Aschinger and Scottie Eichhorn having good scoring halves. The Raiders outscored Westwood 15-12 in the 2nd half and competed well in the 4th quarter before falling by 20.

Reese Aschinger led the Raiders with 10-points to go with 5 rebounds, Scottie Eichhorn had 9 points and Wendie Veit added 6-points and 7 rebounds.

East Sac fell to 3-6 overall and will host SE Valley  on KIKD 106.7 on Monday.

South Central Calhoun had good looks in the 1st half but didn’t shoot the ball well. That coupled with the Rams ability to get the ball down the floor quickly with two outstanding guards in Bryndall Paterson and Irelynn McNamara put them behind 16-3 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Titans were better in the 2nd half as they began to establish Sadie Wheelock on the offensive end. She played well defensively all game, finishing with seven steals. Bryndall Paterson scored 16-points in the 1st half as MVAOCOU led the Titans 31-9 at half.

Grace Schumacher put the Titans on the board with a free throw early, trailing 2-1 but MVAOCOU went on a 6-0 run to lead 8-1. Macie Dorman scored inside but the Rams answered with an 8-0 run and led 16-3 after the 1st quarter. Sadie Wheelock scored to start the 2nd quarter but a 7-0 Rams run kept them in control. The Titans had a flurry with Blair Schleisman hitting a jumper, followed by two free throw from Macie Dorman. MVAOCOU answered with an 8-0 run and they led 31-9 at half. Blair Schleisman had a couple early buckets in the 2nd half as the Titans were down 36-13. The Rams went on a 12-0 run, putting the game out of reach. Sadie Wheelock and Macie Dorman both had some buckets in the 4th quarter and Blair Schleisman hit a three but the Titans weren’t able to score consistently, falling 61-31.

Sadie Wheelock had a team high 10-points, 7 steals and 3 blocks for South Central Calhoun. Macie Dorman added 9-points and 5 rebounds and Blair Schleisman had 8-points and 5 rebounds.

The Titans fell to 2-7 overall and will host OABCIG on Tuesday.
