Carroll won a thriller at home on Monday in front of a raucous crowd as the game went back and forth in the 2nd half. The Tigers led by as many as 9 in the 1st and 2nd half but every time they looked like they would pull away, Kuemper responded with a run, taking twice in the 4th quarter. Carroll attacked the lane and rim all game, getting to the free throw line 37-times with Kuemper working the ball inside but getting a strong shooting night from Jack Badding from deep. Trey Tassell had a huge three to give Carroll the final lead of the game and pulled down a huge rebound to keep them in possession late in a one score game. The game featured nine lead changes and three ties with five lead changes in the 4th quarter.

Ryan Clair hit a three early as Kuemper took a 3-1 lead. They extended the lead to 11-7 on a back-to-back 3’s from Jack Badding. Carroll fought back into the game with free throws from Mac Collison and Jared Mohr. Moyer Olderding scored to put Carroll up 12-11 and the Tigers closed out the quarter on a 9-0 run to lead 16-11. A Trey Tassell three and layup and Carroll went up 21-13 early in the 2nd quarter. A Lual Tharjiath rebound dunk kept Carroll up, making it 23-15. Jared Mohr hit a free throw and Carroll had their largest lead at 27-18. Kuemper responded with a 5-0 run with Griffin Glynn and Dylan Schon scoring baskets and Jack Badding hitting a free throw. Jared Mohr scored for Carroll but Griffin Glynn scored to end the half and Carroll led 29-25 at half.

Mac Collison hit a three and Trey Tassell scored early in the 3rd as Carroll pushed the lead to 34-25 but Griffin Glynn hit a three for Kuemper and Ryan Clair added a pair of free throws. Jack Badding cut it to 34-33 with a three and Ryan Clair tied the game at 35. A Trey Tassell bucket and two free throws from Tassell gave Carroll a 39-35 lead. Ryan Clair scored for Kuemper and Jordan Tryon drained a corner three to put Kuemper up 40-39. Tryon hit another three and Kuemper was up 43-39. A Dylan Schon basket gave Kuemper their largest lead at 45-39. Carroll hit six free throws down the stretch of the 3rd and pulled within 47-45 heading to the 4th as Kuemper held their only lead to start a quarter. Trey Tassell hit a three to start the 4th but Nash Leonard scored inside for Kuemper as the Knights went in front 49-48. Jack Badding stretched it to 52-48 but Carroll went on a 4-0 run to tie it at 52. A Trey Tasssell free throw gave Carroll a brief lead but Jack Badding hit another three and Kuemper led 55-53. Lual Tharjiath tied the game with a bucket and Tyler Tassell hit a three after Ryan Clair knocked down two free throws to give Kuemper a 57-55 lead. The Tassell three gave Carroll the lead for good, up 58-57. Landon Petersen hit a big three for Carroll and Ryan Clair kept the Knights in striking distance with a pair of free throws, making it 61-59. Jared Mohr and Landon Petersen hit free throws as Carroll went up 64-59 but Jack Badding made it 64-61 with a pair of free throws. Carroll went 2 of 4 from the free throw line but Griffin Glynn scored to pull Kuemper within 66-63. A Jared Mohr free throw sealed the game as Carroll won for the 7th time in the last 8 meetings.

Trey Tassell was huge for Carroll, leading them with 23-points, Jared Mohr added 15-points and 8 rebounds and Mac Collison finished with 8-points with Lual Tharjiath having 12-points.

Jack Badding had a team high 22-points for Kuemper, hitting 5-3’s. Ryan Clair had 18-points and 5 rebounds and Griffin Glynn added 9-points while Dylan Schon pulled down 8 rebounds.

The Tigers have won three in a row, improving to 4-2 and will host Bondurant Farrar on January 2nd. Kuemper falls to 5-2 and will host Heelan on January 2nd.

East Sac hosted OABCIG in a conference game makeup on Monday night. The Raiders sat at 1-5 with a win over South Central Calhoun. Tonight would be the final game of the 2025 year for each team. The Raiders fell behind early in the game as the 1st ended in an 18-5 lead for OABCIG. East Sac played better in the 2nd, keeping it within one. East Sac in the 2nd half was on the doorstep of keeping it close, but couldn’t get over the hump as they would fall 66-42. The Raiders fall to 1-5 on the season before the break.
