The Carroll Tigers hosted a varsity doubleheader on Tuesday evening with the Boone Toreadors. The Tigers came in at 2-3 on the season after a 2-0 start . Boone came into the matchup at 1-4. The Tigers jumped out on offense early as the Tigers size game the Toreadors trouble. The Toreadors came out in a press and a halfcourt zone to try and slow the Tigers but they opened the game up 14-5 after 1. 2nd quarter went differently as the Toreadors outscored the Tigers 7-5 but still trailed 19-12 at the half. The game was blown wide open by the Tigers in the 3rd as their defense would be outstanding, holding the Toreadors to just 4 points. The Tigers offense would also shine bright with a huge 21 point performance to take a 40-16 lead after 3. In the 4th the Toreadors showed fight and would outscore the Tigers 11-10 but the 3rd was too much for a comeback as the Tigers would pick up a big 50-27 victory at home. Chloe Kock had a huge night with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 9 blocks for the almost triple-double. Ali Kock was also tied for leading scorer with 12 for the Tigers. Carroll snaps a 3 game slide and is back to 3-3 on the season.

Kuemper took control in the 2nd and 3rd quarters and pulled away for a good road win against a Hawkeye 10 Conference foe. The 1st quarter went back and forth with six lead changes and three ties. The Trojans held a four-point lead heading to the 2nd quarter but things changed quickly in the 2nd quarter. The Knights went on a 9-0 run to start the 2nd quarter, outscoring the Trojans 13-6 in the 2nd. They dominated the 3rd quarter, holding the Trojans to 3-points as they led 45-26 going to the 4th.

Elsa Tiefenthaler hit an early three after scoring on a driving layup, giving the Knights a 5-4 lead. Kaylie Simons pushed it to 7-4 but Atlantic scored 4 in a row to take an 8-7 lead. Addy Anthofer hit a pair of free throws to put Kuemper up by one but Atlantic hit a three, making it 11-9 Trojans. Mackenzie Yetmar drained the first of her three 3’s and Kuemper led 12-11. Atlantic went back up and Kaylie Simons tied it at 13 before Atlantic scored four  in a row to the quarter up 17-13. Mackenie Yetmar hit another three to open the 2nd quarter and Elsa Tiefenthaler put Kuemper up for good with a pair of free throws. Charlotte Hackfort hit a three and Elsa Tiefenthaler pushed the lead to 24-19. The Knights kept the lead around five and led 26-23 at half.

Kuemper opened the 2nd half with a 5-0 run, then went on a 14-0 run to end the quarter up 45-26. Addy Anthofer scored to start the first run and Elsa Tiefenthaler scored to start the 14-0 run with Mackenzie Yetmar hitting a three to end the quarter. Atlantic scored four in a row to start the 4th quarter and pulled within 12 a few times in the 4th but the Knights kept answering with Addy Anthofer scoring inside and Charlotte Hackfort draining a three when Atlantic pulled within 12. The Knights salted the game away down the stretch to win by 13.

Elsa Tiefenthalr had a team high 18-points with Charlotte Hackfort adding 11 points. Kaylie Simons had a strong all-around game with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Addy Anthofer added 10 points and 4 assists. Mackenzie Yetmar had 9 points and Alivia Schenkelberg added 6 rebounds.

The Knights are 5-1 overall and travel to Spencer on Thursday.

CAM at Ar-We-Va

The Rockets of Ar-We-va hosted a conference mate in CAM on Tuesday evening. Ar-We-Va was searching for their first win on the season while CAM sat at 2-2 and 2-0 in the RVC at 2nd place. The Cougars came out hot on the defensive end, running a full-court press and a trap zone in the halfcourt. The Cougars would take a 12-1 lead after1. In the 2nd the pressure was dialed up onvce more with Ar-We-Va being forced to speed up their offense and play a game of keep away on the offensive end. The Rockets had solid halfcourt defense for a lot of the game but fell behind 31-3 after the 2nd. The Rockets would come out in the 3rd and run a better style offense immediatly and have their best scoring quarter as they had 8. In the 4th, the Cougars put a lot of their backups in and Ar-We-Va followed suit late in the game as they fell 65-13. The Rockets fell to 0-7 on the season.

East Sac played their second consecutive day as they hosted Denison-Schleswig on Tuesday Night. The Raiders had fell to Pocahontas Area Monday night and were looking to bounce back. The Raiders had a huge first quarter as they would jump out to a 17-4 lead after 1. They would double down defensively with a shutout of the Monarchs and take a 23-4 lead at the half. The 3rd was the Monarchs highest scoring quarter as they would total 10 points. The 4th would finish 15-3 and the Raiders would get a 53-17 victory on their home floor. The Raiders move to 3-3 after going 1-1 to start the week.

IKM-Manning hit the road to take on Underwood Tuesday night. The Wolves came in at 2-2 with a tough week of Underwood and Treynor. The Wolves fell behind in the 1st 16-13 as the Eagles came out hot with their highest scoring quarter. The Wolves would completely flip the scrpit in the 2nd as they would come out to play on both ends of the ball, slowing the Eagles to 5 and scoring 19 for a 32-21 lead at the break. Underwood kept fighting as they would outscore the Wolves in the 3rd but a 4th quarter surge out of the Wolves again propelled them in the drivers seat. IKM-Manning picked up a 54-44 win on the road Tuesday night.

Paton-Churdan had a road trip down to take on Exira-EHK. It was a matchup of two of our Area teams with Exira-EHK being ranked in the top 10. It was very close in the 1st with Exira going up 4-1 but the quarter ending 12-8 in favor of the Spartans. Exira-EHK opened up the game in 2nd with a 17-0 run  before a PC three to make it 37-16 at the halftime. In the 3rd the Spartans would have yet again a big quarter. Exira-EHK would take a 61-25 lead into the 4th. The Spartans would pick up the 77-32 win at home and move to 5-1 on the season.

South Central Calhoun hosted a tough opponent in the 3-3 Spencer Tigers. The Tigers ran a press and tried to speed up the game as much as they could. The Tigers and Titans both came out good with a 12-10 lead for the Tigers after 1. The Titans made an even bigger jump in the 2nd as they would outscore the Tigers 16-12 to go up 26-24 at the halftime break. The Titans struggled in the 3rd and 4th as they would total up 8 points with 7 in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th. Spencer would get 30 for the 2nd half surge to win 54-34 on the road. SCC dropped to 2-5 on the season.
