Miranda Gerdes had a bucket inside early, pulling East Sac within 3-2 but Pocahontas Area went on a 13-0 run, leading 12-2 at the end of the 1st quarter and 16-2 before Gerdes scored inside again. Scottie Eichhorn cut the deficit to 20-6 and Brooke Burns hit a 3 late in the 1st half as the Raiders fell behind 22-9 at half. The Raiders defense played well, working hard at the top of their zone defense. They made it tough for Pocahontas Area to score inside but Danica Dreith hit a pair of deep 3’s. Chloe Bieret and Sarah Bontrager each hit a three early in the 3rd and the Raiders were within 26-15 but Pocahontas Area went on a 11-0 run putting the game away. The Raiders battled through the 2nd half, continuing to play hard but never got closer than 18 the rest of the game.
Sarah Bontrager had all of her team high 10-points in the 2nd half. Miranda Gerdes had a nice game inside with 8-points and 8 rebounds. Wendie Veit had 4 rebounds and 3 steals and Scottie Eichorn added 3 blocks. Jordin Carroll had 3 nifty assists.
The loss drops the Raiders to 2-3 overall as they host Denison Schleswig on Tuesday.

The Titans of South Central Calhoun hit the road for a very short roadtrip to Gowrie to take on Southeast Valley. The Titans came in at 1-4 on the season and the Jaguars at 1-3. Both teams searched for their 2nd win. The Titans came out hot and shot well to go up 19-6 after the 1st. In the 2nd it was much of the same as the Titans doubled the score of the Jags to go up 37-15 at the halftime break. The Titans had their best scoring quarter in the 3rd but the Jags would add 15 as well. The Titans went up 57-30. In the 4th the Titans closed out the game with a 10-4 run to win 67-35. Blair Schleisman led the Titans with a 29 point game. She also brought down 8 boards.
