Carroll hosted a top team in Class 3A in the Storm Lake Tornadoes on Saturday. In the 1st, the Tornadoes used their size and speed to their advantage as they have a top recruit in Jaidyn Coon. The Tornadoes would take a 21-12 lead. The Tigers would bounce back offensively with a 16 point quarter but they would give up 16 and trail at the half. Jared Mohr and Mac Collison would both have 17 points in the game as the Tigers two leading scorers. In the 4th the Tigers would cut it down to 7 with 5 minutes left in the game but had used most of their energy to get back in. The Tigers would fall 77-61 and fall to 1-2 on the season.

Kuemper vs Clear Lake at Iowa Central Hardwood Classic

Kuemper and Clear Lake faced off in the final match of the Iowa Central Hardwood Classic Saturday night. Clear Lake came in at 1-0 and were in the 3A State Finals a season ago. The Knights came out slow and scored 8 in the 1st with only free-throws while Clear Lake drove the ball and beat the Knights to the bucket plenty of times for 14. The Lions than went on an 11-0 run in the 2nd and completed a 19-10 quarter to go up 33-18 at the halftime break. In the 3rd, the Lions would routinely hold a 20-15 point lead as both teams scored at will. Jaxson McIntire would take over and score 23 on the night for the Lions as they led after 3. In the 4th one of if not the best shooting performances of the season would take place. Brock Badding would hit 8 threes in the game and 7 in the 4th with 6 in a row and made 3 free-throws to bring the deficit all the way back to 3. A couple of missed shots and free-throws for Clear Lake ended the Knights run as they fell 66-59.
