Exira-EHK At Earlham
Exira-EHK 54
Earlham 42
The Spartans won their second big game this week, knocking off another ranked team. This time winning on the road by 12 over Earlham. The defense was sharp most of the night, holding the 13th ranked Cardinals to 42-points. Exira-EHK finished the night with three players having 4 steals, only allowing Earlham’s good shooters sneak free a few times. The Cardinals were able to hit a few shots but the defense kept the damage to a minimum. Exira-EHK struggled from deep, going 2-15 from three, but made up for it with a strong night on the boards and a great effort night from Jaelynn Petersen. The Spartans jumped out early, leading 18-11 at the end of the 1st quarter. They outscored the Cardinals in the first-three quarters before Earlham tried to make a run in the final stanza. Exira-EHK did enough down the stretch to send the Cardinals to their first loss of the season.
Jaelynn Petersen played extremely hard, finishing with 18-points and 4 steals. Harlow Miller added another good night inside with 10-points and 8 rebounds. Taryn Petersen had 13-points, 5 assists and made 4 steals while Kadence Brannan Sporrer added 8-points, 4 assists and 4 steals.
The Spartans improved to 4-1 overall with their fourth straight win. They host IKM-Manning at Audubon on Saturday.
