Kuemper girls hosted Harlan on Tuesday for a boys and girls doubleheader. The Knights are fresh off a big win against Denison-Schleswig on Friday night. Kuemper pushed the tempo and played good defense as they would double Harlan’s 1st quarter production with a 12-6 lead. The 2nd would be very slow and a defensive battle as both teams would be held to single digits with Harlan outscoring Kuemper 7-6 in the 2nd. The Knights would maintain an 18-13 lead at the halftime break. In the 3rd the Knights would once again jump out with another lead at 12-6 in the quarter. They would close out the game on a 15-8 run to close the game with a 45-27 win. Kaylie Simons led the Knights with 13 points. Elsa Tiefenthaler was also in double-digits with 12 points. The Knights with this win move to 3-1 on the season as they travel to Red Oak to close out the week.

Carroll hit the road to take on ADM. The Tigers came in ranked #15 after a 2-1 start to the season with wins over Webster City and Kuemper. ADM came in at 0-4 on the season. ADM started off the game by setting the tone for the night. They would pressure the ball and force turnovers to speed up the Carroll offense. ADM would go up 13-5 after 1. The home floor advantage and tough defense was enough to maintain a lead through the 2nd quarter with ADM leading 22-12 at the halftime break. Ali Kock would lead the Tigers on the night with 8 points. Bella Lu was right behind her with 7. ADM would ramp it up in the 2nd half as they would outscore Carroll 35-18 to close the game with a win at 57-30. Carroll falls to 2-2 on the year and 0-2 in the Racoon River Conference.

Ar-We-Va hit the road to take on Storm Lake St. Marys. Both teams were looking for their first win of the season as the Panthers came in at 0-2 while the Rockets sat at 0-4 to start the season. The Rockets had one girl in double-digits with Gabbie Hundling scoring 11 while adding 6 steals. Hallie McCollough was good on the boards for the Rockets as she would grab 8 rebounds. She also was the second leading scorer with 6 points. The Rockets would suffer a 53-33 loss on the road to fall to 0-4 with Woodbine up next on Friday.

East Sac traveled north to play Storm Lake on Tuesday. The Raiders sat at 1-1 coming into the game. The Raiders were fresh off of a win against South Central Calhoun. The Raiders had a good shooting night as they shot 41% from the field and 40% from the three-point line. Sarah Bontrager led the Raiders with 14 points on the night. Miranda Gerdes was crashing the glass with 9 rebounds and added 7 points as well. Reese Aschinger would be second in scoring with 11. The Raiders fell behind at the half down 31-28 as it was a very close game all the way through. Down the stretch in the 4th, the Raiders would go up 48-45 before a score from the Panthers made it 48-47. East Sac would go down and score to pick up the 50-47 win on the road.

IKM-Manning hosted LoMa in a boys and girls double-header. The Wolves started out with the girls who came into the matchup at 2-2 on the season. The Panthers were on the flipside coming in at 0-5 to start the year. All of the last three matchups were within 10 points and all ended in Wolves wins. In the 1st quarter, both teams started out slow and made it a defensive battle early as the Wolves would lead 6-4 on their home floor. In the 2nd quarter, the Wolves exploded offensively and would go on a 25-8 run to go up 31-12 at the halftime break. The Wolves gained that lead and never looked back as both ends of the ball clicked well. The Wolves scored 15 and 10 in the 2nd half while holding the Panthers to 15 2nd half points and 27 total points to pick up a 56-27 win at home. Ella Langel led the Wolves with 14 points with Anna Stangl right behind her with 12.

Glidden-Ralston Girls hosted Boyer Valley in a Rolling Valley Conference matchup Tuesday night. The Wildcats have started off the year well at 2-1 coming into the matchup with wins over Ar-We-Va and Woodbine after an 0-1 start. The 1st started off very quick as both teams pushed the ball and scored. Glidden-Ralston would get up 18-13 at the end. The Wildcats would back that up with 12 more points in the 2nd to go up 30-18 at the half. The Bulldogs would keep themselves around by outscoring the Wildcats in the second half. In the 3rd they would outscore them 12-9 and in the 4th, 14-11. The Wildcats defense was able to get it done with a 50-45 win on their home floor. The Wildcats move to 3-1 with Greene County Thurday and Coon Rapids-Bayard Friday.

Exira-EHK grabbed the early control of the Rolling Valley Conference with a win over Coon Rapids Bayard on Tuesday at home. The Spartans pulled away in the 4th quarter to win by 10 after taking an 7-point lead late in the 3rd quarter. The Spartans defense and rebounding were keys to the win. The Crusaders struggled on offense, scoring in single digits in three quarters, including scoring 13-points in the 2nd half. They rebounded better in the 2nd quarter and did a nice job offensively in the 2nd quarter, passing the ball very well on cuts to the basket. They pulled within 4-points at the end of the 3rd quarter on a buzzer beater by Ella Heithoff.
Coon Rapids Bayard did a nice job getting to the free throw line early with Aubrey Hofbauer making four straight free throws to give the Crusaders a 4-0 lead. Taryn Petersen and Jaelynn Petersen combined for 6-points for the Spartans as they rallied to lead 6-4, getting the first-two baskets of the game. Aubrey Hofbauer tied it at 6 but a pair of free throws by Taryn Petersen gave the Spartans a 10-7 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. The Spartans lead sat around 1-5-points early in the 2nd quarter with Ashtyn Klocke getting free at the rim to pull the Crusaders within 12-11 but Zoey Rasmussen hit a three for the Spartans and Jaelynn Petersen scored from the lane to make it 17-13. Anna Hart and Ashtyn Klocke found a connection for most of the 2nd quarter with Hart finding Klocke around the basket for easy buckets. She kept them close while Harlow Miller kept scoring on offensive rebounds to keep the Spartans in the lead. Malia Clayburg pulled the Crusaders within 21-19 and Ella Heithoff gave them a brief 22-21 lead with a three. Zoey Rasmussen answered for the Spartans and they led 24-22 at half.
Coon Rapids Bayard had a chance to tie early in the 2nd half but missed a free throw and Exira-EHK got a bucket from Jaelynn Petersen, a three from Taryn Petersen with Taryn adding another basket to push their lead to 31-23. Ella Heithoff kept the Crusaders close with a three. Kadence Sporrer extended the lead to 34-27 with a three but Ella Heithoff drained a three at the buzzer and Coon Rapids Bayard appeared to have momentum, down 34-30 going to the 4th quarter. Taryn Petersen and Harlow Miller scored early in the 4th for Exira-EHK and they led 40-31, opening the quarter on a 6-1 run. The Crusaders pulled within seven twice down the stretch but a Kadence Brannan Sporrer three put the game out of reach.
Taryn Petersen led the Spartans with 15 points along with 5 steals. Jaelynn Petersen added 10-points and 8 rebounds while Harlow Miller finished with 8-points and 8 rebounds and Kadence Brannan Sporrer had 6-points and 7 rebounds.
Ella Heithoff led the Crusaders with 9-points, Ashtyn Klocke added 8 points and Aubrey Hofbauer finished with 6 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Anna Hart added 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Malia Clayburg had 8 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.
The Spartans moved to 3-1 overall and will travel to Earlham on Thursday. The Crusaders slipped to 2-2 and will host Glidden Ralston on Friday.
