Carlisle at Carroll

Carlisle     57

Carroll      21

Carroll was hot off a home win vs Kuemper this week and hosted Carlisle. Carroll has proven they can hold strong on defense. They had the challenge of a top-ranked team and Macy Comito, who is committed to play at Iowa State. Carlisle started well, moving the ball consistently. Bella Lu played tough defense on Macy Comito as the Wildcats went up 14-5 after the 1st. The 2nd was when Carlisle started to pull away as they had some big shots to add 20 to their score and go up 34-11 at the half. Carroll had some good spots with Ali Kock having 13 points, but an all-around good game out of everyone on Carlisle trapped Carroll. The second half was plenty slower. Carlisle added 19 in the 3rd while Carroll had only 8. The Tigers struggled to keep up with Carlisle’s speed. The 4th quarter was slower as a 4-2 4th quarter for Carlisle allowed them to pick up the 57-21 win. Carroll picked up their first loss of the season at 2-1.

Kuemper girls hosted their first conference game of the season vs Denison-Schleswig. Kuemper had fallen to Carroll earlier in the week, so they were looking to bounce back. Denison-Schleswig led 4-3 to start the game, but the Knights turned the tide defensively, full-court pressing and trapping. Kaylie Simons had a big match defensively, having almost double-digit steals and nearly another 20 chances at getting more. Simons added another 10 points as well. The Knights went on a roll to close out the quarter on a 19-1 run and lead 22-5. The Knights brought their starters back out in the 2nd. Morgan Masching was huge on the glass for the Knights as she pulled down 4 rebounds and turned some of that into 9 points. The Knights went up 33-11 at the half. Plenty of new faces saw the floor during the 2nd half. The Knights rolled the rest of the game with 10-4 3rd quarter and 5-9 4th quarter. Paton-Churdan            25

Coon Rapids-Bayard hosted Paton-Churdan for Rolling Valley Conference basketball on Friday. Coon Rapids-Bayard came in as the #14 team in Class 1A and sat at 2-1 after a loss to Kuemper and a win yesterday at Woodward-Granger. PC was 0-1 after a loss to Boyer Valley and is a very young team.  PC started the game up 2-0 and had a lead early. CRB controlled the 1st, leading 12-2 after 1. The Crusaders are led by a stellar group of seniors who have been there and done that since freshman year, so they know how to compete. The Crusaders’ presence was felt defensively, as they held PC to 3 points in the 2nd and added 17 of their own, leading 29-5 at the Half. The 3rd was a lot more competitive as PC really found their footing in the game with a big 12 point quarter. CRB held a 45-17 lead after 3. In the 4th, CRB would have plenty of their bench and young girls get some valuable minutes on the varsity floor. CRB was led by a 23 point night out of Anna Hart. Malia Clayburg added 14 points and 11 rebounds. Alivya Smith led the Rockets with 11 points.

IKM-Manning headed over to Riverside to take on a  ranked Bulldogs program. The Bulldogs had a good shooting night as well as a tough defensive game.
