Girls Basketball Results for Tuesday, November 25th

Webster City at Carroll

Carroll        47

Webster City      28

Carroll Girls Basketball hosted Webster City in their annual season opener. It has been the same game for about 6 years now and it is no surprise that this was the opener. Carroll dropped down to 3A and has a different look with who will be out their for them as they lost a good group of seniors. Carroll opened the game with a great run. It was a very different look as Webster sat in a 2-3 zone and Carroll pressed so the tempo was very much changed from possession to possession. As a fan you could tell who the main focal points of the offense was as Evie Davis of Webster City and Chloe Kock of Carroll battled it out in the post. Carroll would take over in the first as they would lead 10-4 after 1. 2nd quarter felt the same as Webster kept the 2-3 and Carrol started to find their footing with their passing in and out of the zone. Carroll would hold Webster to 8 points and go up 23-8 at half. The Tigers defense was very impressive as they would total up 22 steals and Chloe Kock would have 3 blocks in what was a very solid effort. Second half had plenty of scoring but felt a little slower. Carroll pulled off some of the pressure and Webster changed to a man to man defense. Carroll would add 24 in the second half and hold Webster to 20 as they pick up the 47-28 win at home to start the season 1-0.

South Central Calhoun at Storm Lake

Storm Lake       59

South Central Calhoun     34

South Central Calhoun and Storm Lake faced off in their season opener. Both teams look forward to an exciting 2025-26 season. The Titans return plenty of depth, with one senior and four juniors. They add to that with a big first-year class of 4 girls as well. It was a slow first quarter as both teams had plenty of early-game jitters. Storm Lake would lead 10-5 after 1. Macie Dorman had a big game for the Titans, leading them with 15 points. Blair Schliesman led the way as well with 7 Rebounds. The 2nd quarter is where Storm Lake really controlled the game. They used the extra size they had to control the paint. It was a huge 19-point second quarter that propelled the Tornadoes to a 29-14 halftime lead. The 3rd was more of the same with another 19-point half for the Tornadoes, and the Titans would respond with 11. The Titans were finding good pieces, but had plenty of early-game jitters and would fall 59-34.
