Landon Sporrer- East Sac- Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year
Landon Sporrer was the top cross country runner in the area this season and led the Raiders in nearly every meet this season. He helped the Raiders win nine meets, setting a new school record for team victories. His top time this season was 16:24.76 and he only had one meet where he finished outside the top 5. His steady performance was exactly what his team needed this season and his work ethic helped set the tone for the season. Sporrer had nine races where he finished 4th or higher, including one 1st place finish and five 2nd place finishes.
Riley Aragon- East Sac
Aragon may have improved more than any runner as the season went on. He was strong all season long, becoming extremely consistent in the final few races. His smartest race was at the State Meet where he worked his way through the field, passing several runners over the final ¼ mile to finish 15th and earn a medal. Aragon had eight races where he finished in the top 5 with five 3rd place finishes.
Owen Engel- East Sac
Owen Engel gave the Raiders a third top flight runner, having a strong start to the season with a 4th and 2nd place finish and closed the season well. He finished in the top 8 in every race but one this eason and was top five in 5 races with his best finish being 2nd place. Owen ran a top time of 17:17.64.
Xander Hemer- East Sac
Hemer had a strong senior season, saving his best runs for late in the season. He teamed with Oliver Engel to give the Raiders five really good runners and those two traded finishing 4th and 5th on the Raiders team this season, oftentimes having both placing inside the top 20, helping the Raiders win nine meets. Hemer’s best finish this season was 5th as he routinely finished between 11th and 19th. His best time this season was 18:42.88.
Camden Morris- IKM-Manning
Morris led a strong Wolves team this season, helping them finish in the top 3 in nearly every meet. His consistency was nice for a team that battled some injury and illness and had runners doing football and cross country, so not always available. He consistently finished in the top 15 and was usually around the top 12. His best race may have been at their home meet, taking 5th with a 18:42.87, helping the Wolves win the meet over Woodbine.
Dayton Wiederien- Kuemper
Wiederien was the top runner for Kuemper this season and led them in all the meets he competed in. He nearly qualified for State at an extremely difficult State Qualifying meet. He ran a 17:10.45 at the Iowa State course, taking 22nd place. One of his best races this season was the Hawkeye 10 Conference Meet. He was 8th in that race with a 17:06.86. Wiederien was consistently in the top 12 with several top 10 finishes.
Cross Country Coach of the Year
Cindy Wilcke- East Sac
Wilcke had a strong team in 2025 and did a great job getting the best out of them this season. She helped the Raiders host their first ever home meet early in the season. They dominated the meet and the season took off, winning nine meets, including the Twin Lakes Conference and the State Qualifying Meet. The Raiders had a solid day at the State Meet, finishing 8th out of 16 teams and were 6-points from finishing in the top 5. The Raiders broke several team records this season.
