Kuemper hosted their semifinal matchup against Des Moines Christian. Both teams won on Tuesday to advance to the semifinals, as Kuemper beat Saydel and DMC beat Greene County. Des Moines Christian had a challenge as they came in at 13-25 and faced a Kuemper team that was 29-2 on the season. Kuemper got the first point of the night before the Lions would tie it up at 1 a piece. Des Moines Christian ran a similar speed offense to Red Oak, which gave the Knights a struggle in their only conference loss. Kuemper would maintain a slight lead until the Lions found their stride to tie it up at 12. DMC would take the lead until a two-point swing from an Elsa Tiefenthaler kill and a Mia Milligan ace. Brianna Wittrock would get a kill before another Knights ace from Elsa Tiefenthaler. Kolbi Peter would get 3 of the last 6 points before Mariah Heuton would end Set 1 with a kill for the 25-21 win. Des Moines Christian played some of its best Volleyball in that first set, holding close with the Knights.
Set 2 would have a different feel, as the Knights did all season —when they find their stride. It would be tied at 1, 3, and 4 before a 6-0 run capped off by a Zoe Brunning kill. The Lions would bring it back within 2 at 11-9 and then tie it up at 13. The Knights would retake the lead at 14-13. Elsa Tiefenthaler would find the seam inside the 10-foot line to get her second ace. The Knights would ride this momentum, adding two kills from Zoe Bruning and one from Kolbi Peter. The Knights would lead 2-0 after the opening sets. Set 3 was where Kuemper showed their dominance. It was a 6-1 start led by 2 kills and an ace from Brianna Wittrock. This lead would be maintained all the way through and reach 10 at 21-111. Elsa Tiefenthaler at match point would serve her 3rd ace to win the game 3-0. The Knights will face Unity Christian in the Regional Final on Tuesday at home.
