It was a huge matchup in Class 2A Friday night. Plenty of ways to describe it, #1 vs #2, District Title, Winner take all. The Kuemper Knights and the Okoboji Pioneers at Carroll Athletic Stadium. The Knights came in as the #1 team in Class 2A while the Pioneers were either 2 or 3 depending on what poll you looked at. Both teams were undefeated and looking for the perfect bow on the present of a season that the teams have had. The Knights came out ready to play in the 1st quarter as they would find the endzone twice to take a 14-0 lead. The Knights were able to do it on all aspects of the game as Jarin Hoffman would have 191 yards rushing and 2 TD’s. QB Brock Badding led the offense with 227 yards passing and 2 touchdowns as well as a rushing touchdown of his own. The Knights would add one more score in the 2nd to have a 21-0 lead into the halftime. It would be a hard hole to climb out of for the Pioneers as they trailed 21-0 on the road with the Knights big crowd on the other end of the field. The Knights would capitalize on this momentum as they would get two more touchdowns, one in the 3rd and one in the 4th. The Knights would pick up a huge 35-0 win at home to close out a perfect 8-0 regular season as well as a district title. The Knights will end the year as the #1 team in Class 2A and host the 5-3 Grand View Christian Thunder.
