Audubon closed out the regular season at home against Exira-EHK. This game had more on the line for the Spartans than the Wheelers as with a win, the Spartans would be playoff bound for sure. The Wheelers had aa perfect season on the line as they came in at 7-0 on the season. The Wheelers came in as the state leaders in 4 categories which shows how dominant this team has been all season. They lead the state in touchdowns and lead 8-man football in total point differential at +61.6. This team was looking to end the season the same way they have played all year. The Wheelers started with the ball and two plays into the drive, Aiden Kjergaard would take off for a 38 yard rushing touchdown to open up the game. The Wheelers, who lead the state in 2-point conversions, would attempt and get the 2-point to go up 8-0 after just 51 seconds of gametime. The offensive numbers are easy to see but the defense stood out just as much as they would force a three and out on the Spartans opening drive. The Wheelers would than turn around and take advantage in the first quarter as they would score 4 more touchdowns, Aiden Kjergaard would get two while Mason Kasperbauer and Austin Christensen would get one. The Wheelers defense would force a fumble and return an interception for a touchdown on back-to-back defensive possesions to close the 1st quarter. They would open the 2nd quarter with a punt returned for a touchdown as Jorgen Nowatzke would catch the ball at the 23 and use his speed to beat defenders to the endzone. Both teams would be quiet in the 2nd. In the 3rd the Spartans would get on the board with a rush touchdown from Josten Kilworth. Both teams would trade touchdowns once again. The Wheelers would come away with the victory, 80-16. This win caps off an undefeated regular season as well as a district title. They await Lenox in the opening round of the postseason next Friday.
