East Sac hosted Pocahontas Area in a huge district matchup. Both teams were fighting for the 4th spot and final playoff spot in the district with the winner holding the spot and the loser needing a win in Week 8 to get in. East Sac also had their homecoming this week so the Raiders were looking to end the week on a high note. It was a slower first quarter for both teams. East Sac would start with the ball after receiving the opening kickoff. East Sac would have an 11 play, 74 yard drive capped off by a touchdown and 2-point conversion to take a 8-0 lead early. Pocahontas Area would get the ball and have a 7 play drive with just one first down before they had to punt. East Sac would regain possession and the the ball into the 2nd quarter. The Raiders would march 70 yards on 16 plays to get another touchdown and 2-Point conversion to go up 16-0 in the second quarter. The Indians would claw back into it with a big drive of their own that would result in a touchdown and a missed point after attempt would make it a 10 point game, 16-6. East Sac would throw an interception before the half as they would take a 16-6 lead into the halftime break. The Indians would get the second half opening kickoff and march into field goal range. Carson Schmitt would break the line and block the field goal which would be recovered by Dawson Allen. East Sac would punt back to the Indians on the next drive. Pocahontas would mount a 14 play drive to get on the board in the second half with a touchdown. East Sac would turn around and have a 1 play, 80 yard run for a touchdown. East Sac would lead 24-14 going into the fourth quarter of play. Pocahontas would get an early touchdown in the 4th to cut the lead to 24-22. East Sac would get their own touchdown than to make it 30-22. Pocahontas would fumble their next drive but force a punt out of the Raiders to regain possession. The Indians would go 3 plays and 18 yards to score the touchdown to make it 30-28 and a 2-point try to tie the game. The Indians would run left side before a group of Raiders would get there and Kade Snyder would come in to make the tackle short of the line. The Raiders would kneel it out and pick up the 30-28 win. East Sac had Emmetsburg next week while Pocahontas Area has South Central Calhoun. If both teams win or both teams lose, East Sac will advance to the postseason which made this game a must win.
