Kuemper At Estherville Lincoln Central

Kuemper 48

Estherville Lincoln Central 6

Kuemper scored all their first-six possessions and the defensive line and defense dominated the Midgets. Kuemper used a strong run game and big plays in the passing game to blow the game open. They scored with special teams to start the 2nd half and were able to play their second string kids the rest of the game.

The Kuemper defense took control of the game early, winning the line of scrimmage and stuffing the Midgets run game. Lucas Diehl, Sean Healy and Connor Kanealy were in the backfield the entire 1st half with Kaden Coppock making several great plays on the edge. Brayton Alford fought off blocks all 1st half, making a lot of plays at or behind the line of scrimmage. Kuemper held the Midgets on downs on their opening possession, giving the Knights the ball at the ELC 36-yard line. It took the Knights 6-plays to score with Jarin Hoffman running in from 4-yards out, putting Kuemper up 6-0 with 7:14 left in the 1st quarter. The defense forced a 3-out and Brock Badding hit Griffin Glynn for 66-yard touchdown on a screen pass. Glynn made a nifty move with two tacklers barring down on him to spin away from them both, then outran the defense for the touchdown. ELC went three and out on their next two possessions and Kuemper turned them both into scores. Jarin Hoffman scored on a 13-yard run with 0:07 left in the 1st quarter and Badding hit Glynn for a 56-yard touchdown with 11:20 left in the half and Kuemper was up 28-0. Estherville Lincoln Central had their best drive of the half, picking up a couple 1st downs but the Knights forced a punt with 6:44 left in the half. Kuemper marched 68-yards on 9-plays with Brayton Alford scoring on an 18-yard run with 2:58 left in the half, stretching the lead to 35-0. After ELC turned  it over on downs, Kuemper scored right before the end of the half with Brock Badding finding Jarin Hoffman for 10-yards with 0:03.8 left.

Kuemper was scheduled to get the ball to start the 2nd half, but Easton Gifford returned the kickoff 90-yards for a touchdown and Kuemper led 48-0. The continuous clock made the 2nd half fly with neither team able to score until late. The Knights defense held firm on a few Midget possessions that ended in Kuemper territory. The Midgets broke through at the end of the game, catching a touchdown pass on a tipped pass in the endzone.

Brock Badding went 8-13 with 209-yards passing and 3 touchdowns. Two of them went to Griffin Glynn, who had 2 catches for 132-yards and a pair of touchdowns. Jarin Hoffman carried the ball 11 times for 72-yards with a pair of touchdowns. He added a receiving touchdown.

Kuemper improved to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the district. They host Okoboji on Friday for the district title on KCIM.
