Gilbert    3

Carroll    1

25-23, 17-25, 25-18, 25-14

Carroll hit the road to face a Racoon River opponent in Gilbert on Tuesday night. Very different seasons for both programs coming into this matchup. Carroll had a 14-17 record and was hot off a weekend tournament at Greene County Saturday. Gilbert sat at 13-8 on the year and 2nd in the RRC. Carroll was looking for their first conference win of the season as the Tigers were 0-4 in conference game coming into the matchup. Both teams were very competitive to start the matchup in what was a very close Set 1. Gilbert was able to use a late push and pull away for a 25-23 victory in Set 1. They would take a 1-0 lead at home. Carroll would bounce back in Set 2 with a big 25-17 win. This would mark one of Carroll’s 4 set wins against RRC opponents on the year with a set win in one matchup vs Winterset and a 2-1 win over Winterset at the SCC tournament. This set win would tie up both teams at one set a piece. Gilbert would flip the script once again to pick up a 25-18 win in Set 3 to close in on a match victory. They would finish it out with a 25-1 win and a 3-1 match victory overall. Carroll falls to 14-18 on the season with Carlisle and Boone next week to close out the regular season.

Exira-EHK hosted CAM for Rolling Valley Volleyball on Tuesday evening. Two towns separated by 26 minutes which is one of the shorter drives for both on the season. It was a big matchup for the Spartans who were looking to get to .500 overall and 6-1 in the RVC standings. It was also senior night for the Spartans lone senior, Jaelynn Petersen. Petersen has a big role for the Spartans as their statistical leader in kills and blocks coming into the matchup. The Spartans continued their red-hot streak in Set 1 as they would roll for a 25-16 set win. The Spartans on the night were led in kills by Taryn Petersen with 15. Taryn would step up in a big match with RVC implications. The Spartans would dominate Set 2, 25-11. This would be their largest margin of victory in the 3 sets played. Set 3 was the closest but yet again Exira-EHK would win 25-17.  The Spartans would pick up the 3-0 sweep. Jaelynn Petersen would get 13 kills on the night and with that cross 750 career kills for the Spartans in her playing career.
