Girls Individual State Tennis Results Wednesday, October 1st

Charlotte Schwabe of Kuemper went 2-1 on Wednesday at the State Girls Tennis Tournament, advancing to the Quarterfinals before falling into the consolation bracket. Schwabe opened her morning three set victory over Poojita Mukadam of Fairfield. She dropped the opening set but rallied to dominate the second and third sets, winning both 6-2. She advanced to the Quarterfinals against a familiar foe in Gabi Jacobs of Shenandoah. The two had met in the regular season with Jacobs having won in a well played match. Schwabe played very well in the opening set, falling 7-5 but the short turnaround between her 1st round win and the quarterfinal match wore her down and Jacobs was able to win set two 6-1. Schwabe moved into the consolation bracket against Megan Lausen of ELC, rolling to a two set win, taking both sets 6-0. She will play again on Thursday morning, opening against Harika Cakinberk of North Polk. If Schwabe wins she will play at Noon for 5th place. A lose to Cakinberk moves her into the 7th place  match at noon as Schwabe is guaranteed to place.
