Carroll hosted a Racoon River Conference opponent and a ranked one at that. Ballard came in at #12 and one of the top teams in the conference. Carroll sat at 10-14 on the season and in the middle of the Racoon River Conference. The Tigers hosted tonight, and it was an excellent Set 1. It was close all the way through, but a late pull-away had the Bombers take Set 1, 25-20. Ballard took control after that as they would lead most of Set 2. The Tigers were led once again by the connection between Josie Rydl and Analia Ayala, as Rydl had 16 assists and Ayala had 9 kills. Ballard would take Set 2, 25-16. Carroll would bounce back a little in Set ,3 but the Bombers took control late and won 25-17. The Tigers fall 3-0 and fall to 10-15 on the year as they host Bondurant-Farrar for their Pink-Out Thursday night.

Paton-Churdan traveled to CAM on Tuesday in a Rolling Valley Conference matchup. CAM came into the matchup 7-11 on the season. Paton-Churdan secured their second win over the weekend, bringing their record to 2-8 on the year. Tonight was an uphill battle for the Rockets, as they had a disadvantageous record-wise and were on the road. Set 1 would be the biggest margin of victory as CAM would pick up the win 25-9. Set 2 would be a little closer but CAM would pick up the win, 25-12. Set 3 would be the exact same at the cougars would win 25-12 and pick up the 3-0 match win. Paton-Churdan moves to 2-9 on the season with Coon Rapids-Bayard coming to town Thursday.

Coon Rapids-Bayard sits atop the Rolling Valley Conference at 15-2 coming into this matchup with Woodbine. The Tigers were on the flip side with a 9-13 record and sitting in the middle of the conference. Tonight was a key matchup for both teams in terms of confidence heading down the stretch. For the Tigers, they could knock off the best team in the conference and or CRB they can add another win in what has been a very good season. Set 1 showed why the Crusaders are #1, as they took the lead early and held on for a 25-15 set win. CRB had monster games from their senior core as Malia Clayburg had 17 kills and 12 digs, and Aubrey Hofbauer had 14 kills and 15 digs. The Crusaders had a very well-rounded game from all of their players. The Crusaders would pick up another Set win in Set 2, 25-17. The Tigers would slowly improve their score over the night, closing the gap in each set. Set 3 would be won by the Crusaders, 25-18, as they complete the 3-0 match sweep.

Exira-EHK traveled down to Boyer Valley on Tuesday for a varsity matchup. The Spartans entered the matchup with a 7-10 record on the year and were on a three-game win streak. Boyer Valley came in at 14-13 on the year with more games than the Spartans. Exira-EHK and Boyer Valley had a good back-and-forth Set 1 with Exira-EHK pulling away late to win 25-22. An excellent night from the core of Jaelynn Petersen, Taryn Petersen, and Zoey Rasmussen led the Spartans in the right direction. Jaelynn led the team with 33 Kills, 5 Digs, 4 Blocks, and 3 Aces. Zoey Rasmussen had 44 assists as well. The Spartans would win Set 2 with a lot bigger gap, 25-17. Boyer Valley would avoid the sweep with a Set 3 win, 25-22. The Spartans would close the game, 25-19 to pick up the 3-1 match win and improve to 8-10 on the season. Exira-EHK has Glidden-Ralston on the road coming up Thursday.

Glidden Ralston At Ar-We-Va

Glidden Ralston earned a tough sweep on the road over Ar-We-Va on Tuesday, pulling away late to win sets one and two and rallying to win set three. The Rockets led 15-14 in set two and were up 19-18 in set three before falling 25-18 and 25-21. The Wildcats serve was aggressive at seems, creating enough out-of-system sets for Ar-We-Va and finishing with 13 aces, many of them late in the sets. The match featured eight lead changes and fourteen ties. 

The lead changed hands twice early in set one with Ar-We-Va leading 2-1 and Glidden Ralston going  up 3-2. The Wildcats started to pull away with kills from MaKenna Wiederien and Kassidy Wenck. They led 6-3 and 8-4 before Wiederien pushed the lead to 9-5. Ar-We-Va hung close and after falling down 11-6 on an ace from Kassidy Wenck the Rockets went on a run. Mara Obrecht served well as Ar-We-Va went on a 5-0 run to tie the set at 13. Bryn Renze ended the run with a kill for Glidden Ralston and the Wildcats responded with Olivia Squibb at the service line, going up 17-13 on a kill by Kassidy Wenck. Ar-We-Va tried to fight back with Morgan Berg serving an ace, pulling the Rockets within 17-15 but Glidden Ralston took control with their serve, closing the set on a 8-0 with MaKenna Wiederien ending the set with back-to-back aces. 

The Rockets went up 2-0 in set two with Mara Obrecht having an ace. Glidden Ralston responded with a 4-0 with Anna Steinkamp getting an ace and Kassidy Wenck having a kill. Ar-We-Va responded with a 3-0 run with Annalee Wittrock giving them a 5-4 lead on a kill and Morgan Berg making 6-4 with a kill. The Rockets extended their lead to 10-6 but Glidden Ralston responded. The Wildcats kept cutting the lead to one but Ar-We-Va kept the lead until the Wildcats tied it at 15. Glidden Ralston grabbed a 16-15 lead and Jenna Subbert made it 17-15 with a kill. Ar-We-Va pulled within 17-16 but the Wildcats pulled away down the stretch with Allison Snyder and BreAnn Hartwigsen getting a kill each, winning 25-18. 

Mara Obrecht served Ar-We-Va to a 3-0 lead in set three. Glidden Ralston responded with a 3-0 run with Amelia Garrett getting an ace to tie it. Morgan Berg kept Ar-We-Va in  the lead with a kill and Addison Bierl made it 5-3 with an ace. Allison Snyder had a kill for Glidden Ralston and followed it with an ace and Glidden Ralston tied it at 5. Ar-We-Va kept the lead until Glidden Ralston went up 8-7. Gabbie Hundling tied it at 8 and the set was tied at 9. Glidden Ralston stretched the lead to 12-9 on an ace from MaKenna Wiederien. Ar-We-Va fought back and Addison Bierl had an ace, giving the Rockets a 15-14 lead. Allison Snyder tied the set at 15 but Ar-We-Va went on a 3-0 lead. The Rockets led 19-16 ona kill by Gabbie Hundling by Kassidy Wenck broke the momentum and Ar-We-Va got back-to-back aces from Allison Snyder to lead 20-19. Kassidy Wenck pushed it to 22-20 and ended the match with a kill for a 25-21 win. 

Kassidy Wenck led Glidden Ralston with 10 kills and 4 blocks, Allison Snyder had 7 kills and MaKenna Wiederien had 5 kills along with 8 digs and 4 aces. Allison Snyder finished with a team high 17 digs and 2 aces. Anna Steinkamp had 10 digs and 4 aces with Olivia Squibb had 10 digs. Amelia Garrett led them with 22 assists to go with 8 digs. 

Mara Obrecht had a team high 10 digs for Ar-We-Va and Addison Bierl had 10 assists and 3 aces. Annalee Wittrock and Gabbie Hundling both had 5 kills with Hundling adding 3 blocks. 

Glidden Ralston improves to 4-7 overall and will host Exira-EHK on Thursday on 93.7 KKRL and the CB Sports Network YouTube Channel. Ar-We-Va falls to 0-20 and will host Woodbine on Tuesday, October 7th.

East Sac out hit SE Valley on the road on Tuesday but the Jaguars had a strong night serving, helping them squeeze out a pair of tight set wins to take a 2-1 lead. The Raiders won the opening set but fell 25-23 in sets two and three leading to a four set loss on the road. East Sac hit .185 but the Jaguars countered with 15 aces. The Jaguars pounded the ball at East Sac, making 257 attacks. The Raiders hung tough against the onslaught of swings, making 122 digs, led by Sarah Bontrager with 32 digs.

Jordin Carroll had another big night for East Sac with 33 assists and 20 digs. Katelyn Schmitt was her favorite target, making 16 kills to go with 15 digs and 4 aces. Emerson Ludwig had a strong night swinging, hitting .238, making 15 kills. She added 3 blocks. Sarah Bontrager led a busy back row with 32 digs, followed by  Lilly Rodman with 18 digs and Brooke Burns with 15 digs. Reese Aschinger added 3 blocks and Sarah Bontrager had 3 aces.

The Raiders fell to 16-12 and head to Sioux Central on Thursday.

Kuemper went down to Glenwood for another Hawkeye 10 matchup.  The Knights came in at 24-2 on the season and 6-1 in the conference while Glenwood sat at 14-12 on the season. The Rams would be another nice test before a tough three game stretch with Lewis Central, Harlan, and Sergeant Bluff-Luton to close the season off. Kuemper and Glenwood would battle it out in Set 1 with both teams tying it up but the Knights would pull away late to take a 27-25 set win. The Knights got a good performance out of Addy Anthofer who had 13 Kills, 3 Assists, 3 Blocks, 10 Digs, and 2 Aces on the night. Set 2 was just as close with both teams trading back and forth until yet again the Knights would pull away late in Set 2 for a 26-24 win. The Knights would pick up the sweep with a 25-15 win in Set 3 as the Knights would pick up the win and move to 25-2 on the season with Lewis Central on the horizon next week.

Audubon battled hard on the road, earning a 25-19 win in set two, tying the match at a set apiece. The Cardinals responded with a dominant win in set three (25-12) and held off the Wheelers in the fourth set to top Audubon 3-1. The Wheelers hit .175 with five players having at least one kill. The serve game was solid at 89.2% with 7 aces. The Wheelers made Treynor work for their kills, digging 71 attempts.

Harlow Miller had a strong match with 13 kills, 17 digs, 2 blocks and 4 aces. Anna Larsen had 23 assists and 14 digs with Kadence Brannan Sporrer adding 7 kills and 6 digs. Mackayla Zuniga continues to play well as libero, making 20 digs with Riley Miller adding 4 kills and 6 digs.

The Wheelers fall to 11-11 overall. They host LoMa on Tuesday, October 7th.
