Coon Rapids-Bayard hosted a non-conference opponent in the 3-12 Madrid Tigers on Thursday night. CRB came in at 15-2 with their two losses to OABCIG in their tournament and IKM-Manning at a triangular. This match had little to no stakes for either team, as it was late in the season and out-of-conference games are not as significant as they are in the early parts of the season. CRB opened up Set 1 on fire and held on to win 25-10. A 21-kill performance led the Crusaders from Malia Clayburg. The serve receive from Madrid was a weak point, as the Crusaders put up 12 aces, with Aubrey Hofbauer accounting for 4 of them. The Crusaders capitalized in the 2nd set for a Set0-point win, 25-5. The Crusaders would cap off a big night with a 25-11 victory to sweep the Tigers 3-0 and move to 15-2 on the season.

It was a close Set 1 with the Indians getting a late run to win 25-23. The Titans leaned on a 10 kill and 13 digs night from Blair Schleisman. 2nd Set ended Setferently, with the Indians pulling away earlier to win 25-17. The Titans would secure their Set win in Set 3rd with a 25-22 victory. The Indians would close out the night with a 25-15 win to get the 3-1 win. The Titans fall to 7-17 on the year and have to play Southeast Valley to end the night.

South Central Calhoun had fallen to Pocahontas Area in their first game and now had to face Southeast Valley for their final matchup. South Central Calhoun would fall in set 1, 25-14. The Titans were led by Sydney Stuart, who would have 23 assists and 13 digs in the match. The Titans would fall once again in Set 2, 25-14 . Exira-EHK escaped with a three set win as Ar-We-Va pushed them to the limits in set three and had a late lead, including four set points. All three sets changed leads at least three times and were tied a minimum of three times with the match having 13 lead changes and 18 ties. Exira-EHK pulled away to win comfortably in set one, using a 6-0 run after trailing 4-3 to take control. The Rockets trailed 20-17 in set two before the Spartans ended it with a 5-0 run. Set three was a battle with the lead changing five times and 11 ties.
Taryn Petersen gave Exira-EHK a 1-0 lead in set one with the fist of her 17 kills. Ar-We-Va responded with two straight points as Addison Bierl had a kill, giving the Rockets a 2-1 lead. Two straight kills from Jaelynn Petersen put the Spartans up 3-2 but Ar-We-Va rallied to tie it at 3 and went back up 4-3. Another Jaelynn Petersen kill tied the set at 4 and the Spartans went on a 6-0 run with Bryli Petersen having a kill and Jaelynn Petersen adding two more kills, finishing the night with 17 kills. The Spartans took charge and went on to win 25-12.
Taryn Petersen had an ace to start set two but Annalee Wittrock and Morgan Berg had back-to-back kills for Ar-We-Va, tying the set at 2. Mara Obrecht, who had a strong night, had a kill and Ar-We-Va went up 3-2. Jaelynn Petersen went back-to-back with kills and the Spartans went up 4-3. The Spartans pushed the lead to 7-4 but Ar-We-Va stormed back, tying the set at 8 and taking a 9-8 lead on a kill from Gabbie Hundling. The Rockets held the lead until Taryn Petersen tied it at 11 and Jaelynn Petersen put the Spartans up 12-11. Exira-EHK stretched the lead to 15-11 but Mara Obrecht served an ace and Ar-We-Va trimmed their deficit to 15-13. The Spartans lead grew to 19-14 on a Brooklyn Brabham ace. Ar-We-Va pulled within 20-17 late but the Spartans closed the set on a 5-0 run.
Ar-We-Va rolled early in set three, building a 4-0 lead with Annalee Wittrock having a kill. The Spartans fought back, tying it at 4 on a kill from Taryn Petersen, who put Exira-EHK up 5-4 with an ace. The set was tied at 5, 6, 7 and 8 before Exira-EHK pushed it to 11-8. Taryn Petersen kept the lead at three with kills at 12-9 and 13-10. Ar-We-Va stormed back with three straight points, highlighted by a kill from Mara Obrecht, tying the set at 13. Neither team led by more than two until late in the set when Vivian Blackford had an ace to give Ar-We-Va a 20-19 lead that they would extend to 24-20 on a kill from Mara Obrecht. Exira-EHK called timeout and rambled off five straight points with Bryli Petersen having three straight aces, giving the Spartans a 25-24 lead. Annalee Wittrock tied it at 25 with a block, followed by a Jaelynn Petersen kill and a kill from Annalee Wittrock to tie the set at 26. Exira-EHK went back up 27-26 and Brooklynn Snider ended it with an ace, giving the Spartans a sweep.
Jaelynn Petersen and Taryn Petersen both had 17 kills with Jaelynn adding 4 blocks and 4 aces and Taryn having 11 digs and 4 aces. Zoey Rasmussen had 30 assists and Brooklyn Brabham added 10 digs and Bryli Petersen had 7 digs and 3 aces.
Addison Bierl finished with 14 assists, Mara Obrecht had 5 kills and 3 aces and Annalee Wittrock and Gabbie Hundling 4 kills. Vivian Blackford had 2 aces.
Exira-EHK improves to 7-10 overall and 3-1 in the Rolling Valley Conference as they are off until next Tuesday when they head to Boyer Valley. Ar-We-Va falls to 0-15 overall and 0-4 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They travel to Boyer Valley for a tournament on Saturday.

It was a good night for some of the Rockets as they have seen improvement over the first seven games. PC would drop set 1, 25-9. The Rockets had a couple of of good games,, with Mia Russell recording three blocks, an ace, and four digs,, and Chloe Happe contributing two blocks and 3 kills. The Rockets would fall in Set 2, 25-9. They would fall once again 25-5 and lose 3-0.

IKM-Manning hosted AHSTW on Thursday evening in a WIC matchup. IKM-Manning sits at 2nd in the WIC while AHSTW is at last at 5-17. IKM-Manning is hot off of a 2-1 start to the week with one loss to East Sac and wins over Coon Rapids-Bayard and Tri-Center. IKM-Manning jumped out early and held off the Vikings in set 1 for a 25-6 win. The Wolves connection between Addisyn Bandow and Karlee Arp has been strong all season and tonight, Arp would have 30 assists with 13 of those kills going to Bandow. The Wolves would get 35 kills as a team in a good offensive night. They would pick up set 2, 25-15. The Wolves would complete the 3-0 sweep with a 25-11 win. IKM-Manning sits at 14-3 with the Boyer Valley classic coming up this Saturday.

East Sac played well in a tough road loss on Thursday at Emmetsburg. The Raiders had a chance to pull into a first place tie in the Twin Lakes Conference but fell into a four-way tie for 2nd place at the time of publication. The 1st set was tight with Emmetsburg pulling out a 25-21 win. The Raiders out hit the E-Hawks at the net but Emmetsburg gave East Sac trouble with their serve, finishing with 8 aces, helping to keep the Raiders out-of-system. That pressure allowed them to earn wins in sets two and three, winning 25-17 and 25-18. The E-Hawks defense did a nice job keeping plays alive, finishing with 123 digs, even though East Sac hit .217 at the net, led by Katelyn Schmitt with a .367 and Reese Aschinger with a .300. Emmetsburg also had clutch blocks, making 18 on the night compared to 5 for East Sac.
Katelyn Schmitt ended the night with 12 kills and 14 digs, Jordin Carroll had 26 assists and 14 digs and Sarah Bontrager had a monster night in the back row with 24 digs. Tori Hauser added 13 digs with Reese Aschinger and Miranda Gerdes chipping in 5 kills each.
The loss drops the Raiders to 13-10 overall as they head to Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn for a tournament on Saturday.
