Carroll At North Polk

Carroll battled hard in the first set but North Polk closed it out with a 17-3 run, then used the momentum to win comfortably in sets two and three. Carroll was able to establish Analia Ayala, Kyra Hosenfelt and Amanda Wardell early in set one, they were swinging well and the back row was doing a nice job of keeping balls alive. They built a 15-8 lead and appeared to be in good shape, but North Polk began to take control of the set and closed it out with a 17-3 run to win 25-18. Carroll fell behind early in sets two and three and North Polk kept the pressure on them, earning 25-13 and 25-14 wins.

Analia Ayala led the Tigers attack with 13 kills and a .360 kill efficiency. Kyra Hosenfelt added 6 kills and hit .250. The Tigers hit .098 as a team. Josie Rydl ended the night with 20 assists and 9 digs. Aubrie Drake added 7 digs and Analia Ayala had 12 digs.

Carroll fell to 10-10 overall and 0-3 in the Raccoon River Conference. They head to the Nevada Tournament on Saturday.

Kuemper and Shenandoah At Atlantic

Kuemper went down south to Atlantic for a triangular with Shenandoah and Atlantic. The Knights came in red hot off of a 6-0 sweep and win at the CYO tournament Saturday. The Knights were 22-2 on the season with Shenandoah at 4-13. Over the Weekend there were two big milestones in Kaylie Simons getting 2000 digs and Elsa Tiefenthaler getting 1500 assists on their careers. The Knights wasted no time in Set 1 as they got out early and held the lead all the way through to win 25-4. It was Elsa Tiefenthaler leading the Knights with 4 aces and 32 assists in this matchup. Set 2 was better for Shenandoah and when you watched it seemed that the Fillies were slowly improving but the Knights are just a step above in the Hawkeye 10. The Knights would win Set 2 25-8. It would be a good offensive match for both Kolbi Peter and Mariah Heuton as Peter had 10 kills and Heuton added 8. The Knights rolled past Shenandoah in the 3rd, winning 25-13 and completing the 3-0 sweep. The Knights would move to 23-2 with Atlantic to close off the night.

Kuemper Vs Atlantic

Kuemper and Atlantic both beat Shenandoah in their opening match to be 1-0 on the evening going into the final match of the night. Kuemper was looking to keep their 8 match win streak alive and Atlantic was 1-2 in their last 3 and looking to keep going in the right direction. Kuemper in Set 1 jumped out up 2-0. Atlantic would fight back and make it 2-2. It would be the one and only tie of the entire match. Kuemper would go on a 8-0 run before a timeout at 10-2. The Knights kept rolling through Set 1 with the help of 3 aces from Kolbi Peter and Elsa Tiefenthaler with Atlantic’s serve receive struggling. The Knights got up 21-7 and then took a 4-0 run to win Set 1 25-7. The Knights in Set 2 once again jumped out to a 2-1 lead. Elsa Tiefenthaler had a huge night with 7 Kills, 27 Assists, 9 Digs and 5 Aces. The two senior leaders in Tiefenthaler and Simons showed why they were the leaders with the communication out on the court. Set 2 would be all Knights as they got up 20-12 and then had a 5-2 run and won, 25-14. Fans in attendance could see the confidence and joy for the game with the Knights with smiling faces and swinging arms. The Knights went up 15-1 in Set 3 before a timeout and all but one time coming out of a timeout, the Knights would get an ace or kill. The Knights rolled past Shenandoah 25-6 and got the 3-0 sweep. The Knights improved to 24-2 on the year with 5 dates to go before postseason.

Coon Rapids Bayard controlled the match with their serve and Malia Clayburg was huge for them at net as they sweep Glidden Ralston at home on Tuesday. The Wildcats did a nice job getting touches and blocks but Coon Rapids Bayard kept the ball alive, recovering and attacking the middle of the floor. That allowed the Crusaders to get a long run in each set to pull away as the Wildcats hung tight to start all three sets. Coon Rapids Bayard served 87.7% but had 11 aces, led by Anna Hart with 6. Malia Clayburg hit .395, finishing with 22 kills on 43 attempts. She helped the Crusaders hit .276. Kassidy Wenck hit .188 to pace Glidden Ralston, which hit .062 as a team. BreAnn Hartwigsen did a nice job at the net with 3 blocks.

Coon Rapids Bayard, pressure and energy helped them earn the sweep, outscoring the Wildcats 25-13, 25-13 and 25-14.

Malia Clayburg had 22 kills with 16 digs for Coon Rapids Bayard. Aubrey Hofbauer added 7 kills, 12 digs and 2 aces. Anna Hart was strong with 29 digs and 6 aces. Amelia cook finished with 31 assists and 2 aces. Mya Downing and Ella Heithoff both had 6 digs.

Kassidy Wenck, BreAnn Hartwigsen and Allison Snyder all led the Wildcats with 3 kills. Amelia Garrett had 9 assists. Amelia Garrett paced the backrow with 13 digs, Kassidy Wenck had 9 digs and Olivia Squibb added 8 digs. BreAnn Hartwigsen led them with 3 blocks.

Coon Rapids Bayard moves to 14-2 overall and hosts Madrid on Thursday. Glidden Ralston falls to 3-7 and is off until next Tuesday when they travel to Ar-We-Va.

IKM-Manning earned a four set win, taking sets three and four to clinch the win after trailing all of set two, struggling to keep balls alive or get themselves in position. They were sharp the rest of the match, earning comfortable wins in sets one and four with four being dominant. Their serve in set four set the tempo, making up for some service struggles in set one. IKM-Manning finished with 11 aces with Anna Stangl and Olivia Linde both having 4 aces. They finished with a 87.4% serve efficiency. IKM-Manning did a nice job of covering the tip, though Tri Center hadn’t shown tip in previous matches. The Wolves did a nice job adjusting to the different areas the Trojans attempted to tip too.

Addisyn Bandow continues to swing well, leading IKM-Manning with 17 kills and a .265 kill efficiency. Keagan Eischeid added 12 kills and hit .242. Macy Gruhn hit .214, adding 5 kills. Karlee Arp dished out 34 assists with six different girls making a kill. Keagan Eischeid had a team high 19 digs and Anna Stangl added 12 digs. Karlee Arp had 9 digs and Olivia Linde added 8 digs. Linde and Anna Stangl both had 4 aces.

IKM-Manning improved to 13-3 and will host AHSTW on Thursday.

Exira-EHK served well, helping them to control the match in a 3-0 sweep of Paton Churdan on Tuesday. The Spartans finished with 20 aces, making only 8 errors. Paton Churdan played well in the opening set, pushing Exira-EHK until the Spartans used a run in the middle of the set to pull away for a 25-16 win. The Spartans serve took over the final two sets, collecting most of their aces as Paton Churdan was out of system and struggled to put pressure on Exira-EHK. The Spartans rolled to wins in sets two and three, improving to 6-10 overall.

Jaelynn Petersen paced the Spartans at the net with 17 kills, adding 3 blocks and 3 aces. Taryn Petersen had 10 aces along with 9 kills and 6 digs. Zoey Rasmussen had 20 assists and a pair of aces. Brooklynn Snider added 5 aces.

 

The Spartans travel to Ar-We-Va on 93.7 KKRL. Paton Churdan slips to 1-6 overall and will host Boyer Valley on Thursday.

Audubon battled hard, falling to ranked Missouri Valley in three sets but having a chance to win two sets, losing by a combined 5-points. The Wheelers had their best night serving, giving them a chance to earn the win but allowed the Big Red to get on a run in all three sets. A 4-point run in set one allowed Missouri Valley squeeze out a 25-22 win. They used a long run in set two to take control, going on a 10-point run. Audubon kept fighting back after each run but fell short. Set three was similar to the opening set with Missouri Valley using a 4-point run to get control. The Wheelers serve and Harlow Miller having a monster night at the net helped the Wheelers go on a few runs to rally and make things tight, falling in set three 25-23.

Harlow Miller ended her night with 23 kills, 9 digs, 2 blocks and 2 aces. Kadence Brannan Sporrer had a strong night in the back row with 17 digs. Anna Larsen had 28 assists along with 11 digs and 2 aces. Mackayla Zuniga had 9 digs, Maya King 7 digs and Riley Miller added 6 digs.

The Wheelers head to the Boyer Valley Tournament on Saturday, sitting 9-8 on the season.
