Kuemper At CYO Tournament
Kuemper didn’t drop a set on Saturday at the CYO Tournament at Gehlen Catholic, winning all five matches 2-0. Their toughest test was the first set against Bishop Heelan and the second set against St Mary’s, Remsen. They edged Heelan 23-21 in the 1st set but rolled in the second set, winning 21-11. The match with St Mary’s, Remsen was nearly opposite, winning set one 21-14, the battling to win set two 21-19. They rolled past St Edmond, holding them to 3-points in the second set and beat Bishop Garrigan 21-5 in their first set. The Knights allowed opponents to score 15 or more points in only three of their ten sets, between 10-15 points in five sets and under 10-points in two sets.
Mariah Heuton led the Knights with 35 kills with Kolbi Peter with 30 kills and Zoe Brunning had 20 kills. Elsa Tiefenthaler made 105 assists, finding six different hitters. Kaylie Simons paced the back row with 82 digs, followed by Addy Anthofer had 35 digs, Mia Milligan 25 digs and Tiefenthaler finished with 22 digs. The Kuemper defense was strong at the net with Zoe Brunning having a team high 10 blocks, Mariah Heuton, Elsa Tiefenthaler and Addy Anthofer all having 5 blocks. Mia Milligan continues her strong serving season with 8 aces, Addy Anthofer added to her outstanding day with 4 aces and Kolbi Peter had 3 aces.
The Knights improved to 22-2 overall and will head to Atlantic along with Shenandoah on Tuesday.

Audubon, IKM-Manning and South Central Calhoun At Carroll Tournament
Carroll and Audubon won their pool and three area schools made the semifinals on Saturday with two local schools squaring off for the second time on the day. Carroll topped IKM-Manning in the first match of the morning in their pool. They finished 1st and 2nd in their pool, advancing into the semifinals. Audubon rolled through their pool, going 3-0, dropping one set in pool play. Carroll took on Storm Lake, which was 2nd in their pool behind Audubon, in the semifinals, advancing into the finals with a 2-1 win. IKM-Manning took on Audubon in the other semifinal, winning 2-0 against their conference foe, advancing to the finals and a rematch with Carroll. Carroll won the first set 24-22 but IKM-Manning rallied to win the last two sets, 21-18 and 15-11. The Wolves claimed the tournament title, finishing an outstanding week for them.
The Wolves went 4-1 in matches and 8-4 in sets. Carroll was 4-1 in matches and 8-5 in sets. Audubon went 3-1 in matches and 6-3 in sets. South Central Calhoun nearly advanced to the semifinals, going 1-2 in matches, playing their final match of pool play with a chance to finish in 2nd place. They fell 2-0 to Storm Lake, ending the day 2-5 in sets and in 4th place in their pool.
IKM-Manning fell in 2-0 to Carroll to start their morning but rallied quickly, beating Newell Fonda 2-0 then edging past Fort Dodge, winning set one 21-15, falling in set two 18-21. They clinched 2nd in their pool by winning the final set 15-10, pulling away down the stretch. Keagan Eischeid had a team high 38 kills with Addisyn Bandow adding 33 kills and Ella Langel finishing with 18 kills. Karlee Arp had 89 assists and 21 digs. Anna Stangl had 41 digs to lead the Wolves, adding 4 aces. Keagan Eischeid had 29 digs and Caylie Rasmussen had 17 digs and a team high 5 aces. Addisyn Bandow added 4 aces to her day.
Carroll had a strong showing, beating IKM-Manning 2-0 to start pool play. They topped Fort Dodge 2-0 and edged past Newell Fonda 2-1, falling 21-18 in set one before pulling out two tight wins, 21-19 and 15-13 to clinch the pool championship. The Tigers downed Storm Lake 2-1 in the semifinals, rallying to wins sets two and three after losing set one 21-19. Amanda Wardell had a team high 37 kills with 3 blocks and 3 aces. Analia Ayala had 31 kills to go with 34 digs and 3 aces. Chloe Kock had 17 kills and at team high 4 blocks. Josie Rydl had a strong day with 95 assists along with 34 digs. Aubrie Drake paced the backrow with 39 digs, Brylee Mrla had 30 digs and Callie Cummings added 25 digs and a team high 5 aces.
Audubon was sharp in pool play, winning all three matches, beating Storm Lake in three sets, taking set one 21-16 and set three 15-12. They swept South Central Calhoun and Storm Lake, clinching a pair the pool title. The Wheelers fought hard but fell to IKM-Manning into the semifinals 2-0. Harlow Miller had a team high 38 kills with Kadence Brannan Sporrer adding 16 kills and Abby Wanser and Riley Miller each finishing with 8. Anna Larsen passed for 63 assists to go with 17 digs. Mackayla Zuniga had a team high 35 digs with Harlow Miller adding 28 dig, Anna Larsen and Kadence Brannan Sporrer both having 17 digs, Lucy Stanerson had 14 digs and Maya King added 13 digs. Harlow Miller had a team highs of 8 aces and 5 blocks with Kadence Brannan Sporrer and Abby Wanser both having 5 aces.
IKM-Manning is 11-2 overall and will host East Sac and Coon Rapids Bayard for a triangular with all three matches on KIKD 106.7. Carroll moved to 10-9 overall and will head to North Polk on Tuesday. Audubon sits 9-7 as they host Missouri Valley on Tuesday. South Central Calhoun fell to 7-17 and will host SE Valley and Pocahontas Area on Thursday.

Coon Rapids Bayard At OABCIG Tournament
Coon Rapids Bayard earned another tournament championship on Saturday, going 3-1 with wins over Kingsley Pierson, AHSTW and Lawton Bronson. They swept all three matches, helping them edge past OABCIG and Kingsley Pierson, which also won three matches. The Crusaders went three sets with OABCIG, falling 15-10 in set three after winning set one 21-14. Coon Rapids Bayard had a chance to sweep the day, but fell in set two to the Falcons 21-16. The win over Kingsley Pierson was a tight in the opening set, winning 22-20. They rolled in set two, winning 21-14. They cruised through matches with Lawton Bronson, winning 21-14, 21-13 and AHSTW 21-13, 21-11.
Malia Clayburg continues her outstanding season at the net with 48 kills, adding 22 digs and a team high 5 blocks. Amelia Cook had 77 assists to go with 22 digs. Anna Hart had a team high 68 digs with Aubrey Hofbauer ending with 28 digs and 17 kills. Ella Heithoff added 22 digs, Mya Downing added 4 blocks and Ashtyn Klocke had 3 aces.
The Crusaders are 12-1 and will travel with East Sac to IKM-Manning for a triangular on Monday on KIKD 106.7.

Ar-We-Va At Boyer Valley
Ar-We-Va earned their first set win of the season on Saturday and nearly had two sets wins, leading late in set one against Boyer Valley before falling 21-19. The Rockets finished the day 0-5 overall in matches and 1-10 in sets. Ar-We-Va knocked off MVAOCOU in the first set, winning 21-17. They would drop sets two and three 21-10 and 15-7. The Rockets fell to Woodbine, LoMa and Siouxland Christian in their other three matches.
The Rockets are 0-14 overall and will host Exira-EHK On Thursday.
