The Titans held South Hamilton to 5-yards per carry, allowing 175-yard rushing in a nice road win to open the district season. The offense was balanced with 176-yards passing and 153-yards on the ground. They built a lead in the 1st half, then answered both of the Hawks scores in the 2nd half to keep the three score lead. The defense held South Hamilton to one 1st down in the 1st half, giving the offense good field position. The Titans took advantage, scoring a touchdown in the 1st quarter, adding a pair of scores in the 2nd quarter to build a 21-0 lead at half. The lead could have been bigger but the Titans missed a couple of opportunities to put the game away.
South Hamilton scored to start the 2nd half but the Titans offense responded, pushing the lead to 28-6. The game moved quick with South Hamilton only throwing the ball four times, going 1-4 for 12-yards. They broke a 47-yard touchdown run by Wyatt Gelder in the 2nd half, helping him run for 115-yards on 20 carries. The Hawks scored early in the 4th quarter, pulling within two scores but the Titans responded again, putting the game out of reach.
Cade Higgins went 11-17 passing for 176-yards, throwing a touchdown and an interception. Cooper Nattress led the run game with 67-yards on 12 carries with 3 touchdowns. Nattress longest TD run was 14-yards. Garrett Krause caught 3 passes for 68-yards and a touchdown and Charlie Nattress had 4 catches for 75-yards. Charlie Nattress and Halas Steig led the defense with 5 tackles each. Jace Pedersen had 4.5 tackles and Marshall Bundt had 4 tackles with all of them solo.
The Titans are 2-2 overall and 1-0 in Class 1A District 2. They host Emmetsburg on Friday.
