Ar-We-Va took control early, scoring three touchdowns in the 1st quarter as the offensive line did a nice job of sealing at the point of attack and getting to the linebackers. That allowed the Wyatt Ragaller to have a strong night running the ball. Grant Wilken had his best game throwing the ball, going 7-10 with a pair of touchdowns. The ability for Ar-We-Va to throw, took pressure off the running game. The Rockets built a 20-0 lead at the end of the 1st quarter, extending it to 32-8 at half. The defense was sharp, turnovers with Wyatt Ragaller returning an interception 57-yards for a touchdown. They added three fumble recoveries, forcing the Spartans into four turnovers.
Exira-EHK cut into the lead in the 3rd as Ar-We-Va wasn’t able to sustain drives, making a few too many penalties. The Spartans pulled within 32-16 heading to the 4th quarter. The offensive line reestablished control up front. They were able to sustain drives, chewing up clock and putting points on the board. Jack Musfeldt broke off a 63-yard touchdown run to help seal the deal.
Wyatt Ragaller had a team high 130-yards rushing with 3 touchdowns on the ground. He added two more scores through the air with Grant Wilken throwing for 66-yards and a pair of touchdowns. Jack Musfeldt had a 63-yard touchdown run on his only carry of the game. The defense was balanced with Devon Ehlers leading the way with 9 tackles with Tyson Von Glan, Derek Thomsen and Jose Arellano all having tackles. Von Glan, Arellano and Jack Musfeldt all recovered fumbles. Wyatt Ragaller picked off a Spartan pass, returning it 57-yards for a touchdown.
Ar-We-Va moves to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in 8-Man District 9. They head to Coon Rapids Bayard for a huge district matchup on 93.7 KKRL next Friday.
