The Audubon defense was dominant, holding CAM to -23-yards of total offense, allowing one 1st down while pitching a shutout. They set the tempo early after Audubon fumbled on their first possession and CAM had the ball at the Wheelers 37-yard line. The Wheelers forced a three and out, sending a message on how the rest of the game would go. The Wheelers offense found their rhythm on their second drive, going 67-yards on three plays as Aiden Kjergaard scored on a 38-yard touchdown with 8:24 left in the 1st quarter. After both teams went three and out. The Wheelers pinned the Cougars at their own 4. Aiden Kjergaard jumped a Cougar pass in the flat and scored on an 11-yard INT, extending the lead to 16-0 with 3:20 left in the 1st quarter. CAM went three and out and Audubon pushed the lead to 22-0 with 0:47 left in the quarter when Carson Wessel followed his block perfectly, rambling 30-yards for a touchdown. Mason Kasperbauer intercepted CAM on the final play of the 1st quarter and Audubon scored five plays into the 2nd quarter on an 11-yard run. The Wheelers were up 28-0 early in the 2nd quarter. The defense forced CAM to six-three and outs in the 1st half and pair of interceptions. The Cougars had -30 yards of total offense in the 1st half and went three and out on their final three possessions of the half. The quick turn around helped the Wheelers add a pair of scores with Mason Kasperbauer scoring on a 20-yard run with 5:53 left, adding a 14-yard run with 1:54 remaining in the half. The Wheelers pushed the game into continuous clock by halftime, up 44-0.
Carson Wessel scored on runs of 11-yards in the 3rd quarter and 6-yards in the 4th quarter. Brody Otten took over at quarterback in the 4th and carried the ball on nearly every snap. He scored on a 9-yard run with 5:32 left, finishing with 99-yards on 14 carries in the 4th quarter. The Wheelers defense began subbing freely early in the 2nd quarter and forced CAM to punt on their opening three possessions of the half. CAM earned their only first down on their second drive of the 3rd quarter.
Mason Kasperbauer carried the ball 7 times for 119-yards and 3 touchdowns. Aiden Kjergaard ran for 101-yards and a touchdown, adding an interception he returned 11-yards for a touchdown. Brody Otten had 99-yards and a touchdown and Carson Wessel scored three times on 9 carries and 64-yards. The defensive line was as dominant, putting pressure in the backfield all game long, finishing with 11 tackles for loss and 5 sacks with Brody Weber and Hayden Larsen both having 2.5 TFL and Larsen having 2.5 sacks. Austin Christensen led them with tackles.
The Wheelers are 4-0 overall and 3-0 in district games. They step out of district next week at Fremont Mills.
