Coon Rapids-Bayard at Exira-EHK

Coon Rapids-Bayard        3

Exira-EHK                          0

25-14, 25-16, 25-15

A matchup that will be played Thursday in Volleyball and Friday in Football is when Coon Rapids-Bayard travels to Exira-EHK. The Crusaders sit at 7-0 after a week off. They face the Spartans, who are 4-9 and the returning conference champions. It is two completely different roster looks as the Spartans have a lone Senior in Jaelynn Petersen, and the Crusaders start 5 to 6 of them each night. Both teams were very close in set one, as it was a back-and-forth battle in the singles digits. CRB was able to pull away late and gain a 10-point lead before closing out the match 25-14. CRB Senior Libero Anna Hart crossed the 1000 dig mark during set 1, and it was made known when they announced it over the loudspeaker. Set 2 was very similar, with both teams fighting back and forth, battling to a 10-10 tie. The Crusaders once again pulled away after the tie to win set 2, 25-16. It was just a couple of communication errors within the Spartans’ team that had led to the run. CRB, with a 2-0 lead, closed in on a match victory with only a set left to win. CRB took the lead early in set 3, and it was downhill from there as they would hold that lead all the way through to pick up the 3-0 sweep. CRB sits at 8-0 and 1-0 now in the RVC, while Exira-EHK sits at 4-10 and 0-1 in the RVC.
