Carroll had their hands full in their home opener when the Spencer Tigers came to town. Both teams were seeking their first win as Carroll had fell to Gilbert in week one and Spencer lost to Humboldt. Spencer would receive the opening kick and have it at their own 14. Spencer Running Back Kamden Young would break a tackle at the line of scrimmage and win a footrace to the endzone for an 86 yard opening play touchdown. Spencer would kick the extra point and take a 7-0 lead early in the 1st. Carroll would turn that around with a long drive where Adam Malik would punch it in to tie up the game 7-7. A couple of punts each would happen before Spencer would get on the board once again. Spencer would have a 14-7 lead going into the 2nd quarter. The 2nd quarter was less high scoring and more 3 and outs as Spencer would score their 3rd touchdown of the game and take a 21-7 lead into halftime. Kamden Young would have 2 of the 3 touchdowns in the first half for Spencer.
In the 3rd quarter it was Kieran Polking for Carroll who would recover a fumble and run it back for a touchdown to jumpstart some life into the Tigers comeback attempt. Spencer’s Kamden Young would score his 3rd touchdown in of the game as they would take a 27-13 lead into the 4th. Carroll would march down the field late in the 4th where quarterback Camden King would scramble for a touchdown to trail by 8. Carroll would have one final chance but would fail to cross the endzone as they would fall 27-19 at home. Carroll goes to 0-2 on the year as they host Humboldt next Friday.
