Coon Rapids Bayard tried to rally back after falling behind 14-0 early but fell just short as CAM held on for a 46-40 win. The Cougars used a balanced attack to keep their lead, scoring four passing touchdowns and two on the ground. Coon Rapids Bayard was able to establish the ground game but struggled passing the ball, completing 44.4% of their passes. They finished the game with 107-yard through the air and 234-yards on the ground with all six touchdowns coming via the run game.

CAM struck first, scoring on a 20-yard pass from Zach Kaufman to Brentyn Hoover with 10:23 left in the 1st quarter. The Cougars stretched the lead to 14-0 on a 10-yard run from Kaufman with 3:47 remaining in the quarter. The Crusaders offense found a rhythm and pulled within 14-6 at the end of the quarter with Caden Oswald scoring on a 44-yard touchdown run. An Ethan Bauer 4-yard run early in the 2nd quarter tied the game at 14. CAM pushed their lead to 28-14 at half with a pair of touchdowns in the final 5:04 of the half. Zach Kaufman found Collin Bower for a 45-yard touchdown with 5:04 remaining, then hit Bower again for a 47-yard touchdown with 0:26 left in the half.

Coon Rapids Bayard cut into the lead as they did all game to start the 3rd quarter. Ethan Bauer scored on a 36-yard run and the Crusaders were down 28-22 with 10:40 left in the quarter. CAM answered with Collin Bauer scoring on a 34-yard fumble recovery with 9:27 left in the 3rd, pushing the Cougars lead to 34-22. The teams kept trading scores with Ethan Bauer scoring on a 15-yard run with 8:29 left in the corner and CRB had pulled within 34-28. CAM added a pair of scores in the final 5:39 of the 3rd quarter, sandwiched around a 31-yard scamper from Ethan Bauer with 4:26 left in the 3rd. The Cougars took a 46-34 lead into the 4th quarter. Caden Oswald gave the Crusaders a chance with a 25-yard touchdown run with 9:55 left in the game as Coon Rapids Bayard pulled within 46-40. Neither team scored the rest of the game as the defenses made key stops. CAM forced one turnover in the game while the Crusaders defense had a pair of interceptions and recovered two fumbles.

Caden Oswald ran for 156-yards and 3 touchdowns and Ethan Bauer had 78-yard on the ground, scoring 3 touchdowns. Griffin Mohr had 7 tackles with 4 sacks.

The Crusaders fall to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in district play heading into their Week 3 matchup Exira-EHK on Friday.
