Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Audubon Looks Like Top 5 Team for Second Straight Week

Audubon dominated for a second straight week, showing explosiveness on offense and a defense that is relenting. The Wheelers ran only 27 offensive plays but scored eight touchdowns with four on the ground and four through the air. The defense held the Tigers to three plays or less on ten of their twelve possessions, giving up four-1st downs and 78-yards of total offense. Audubon scored on their first-eight possessions, leading 38-0 at the end of the 1st quarter and 68-0 at half.

Aiden Kjergaard got things rolling early for Audubon with an 18-yard touchdown run on the opening possession of the game. The Wheelers led 8-0 with 11:10 left in the 1st quarter. A Carson Wessel 9-yard touchdown run with 8:20 left in the 1st quarter extended the lead to 16-0. It moved to 22-0 with 7:34 left in the 1st quarter with Mason Kasperbauer scoring on a 6-yard run. The Wheelers offense wasn’t done yet. Aiden Kjergaard scored on a 26-yard run with 6:56 left in the quarter, pushing the lead to 30-0 and Brody Weber caught a 65-yard touchdown pass from Kjergaard with 2:05 left in the 1st quarter as the Wheelers put the game out of reach, up 38-0. The Wheelers added 30-points in the 2nd quarter, highlighted by touchdowns from Austin Christensen on a 23-yard catch and Aiden Kjergaard interception, returned 24-yards for a touchdown. Kjergaard hit Austin Christensen for a 38-yard touchdown with 4:32 left in the 1st half and Jorgen Nowatzke returned a Tigers punt and returned it 46-yards for the touchdown. The Wheelers led 68-0 at half.

Aiden Kjergaard found Hudson Hocker for a touchdown in the 3rd and Griswold found the endzone in the 4th to round out the scoring.

Aiden Kjergaard led Wheelers with 79-yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns. He went 4-5 in the passing game for 154-yards and 4 touchdowns. Kjergaard added a pick six. Austin Christensen had 2 catches for 61-yards and a pair of touchdowns. Jorgen Nowatzke returned a punt for a touchdown and Brody Weber had a 65-yard touchdown catch.

The Wheelers are 2-0 and will host Ar-We-Va on Friday.
