Greene County 1
22-24, 21-8, 15-8
A unbeaten Kuemper team took on the winless Greene County squad in game one of two for the Knights. Kuemper played back to back with Greene County up first. Greene County jumped at the chance to knock off the ranked opponent as they would sneak by Kuemper in a very close first set, 24-22. With it being a triangular it is best 2-3 and the Rams put themselves within striking distance of getting the win. Kuemper would battle back in the second set with a huge 13 point win, 21-8. This was a more typical look at what Kuemper was able to do when they get rolling. Kuemper’s talented front was very spread out over the course of the three sets as Brianna Wittrock and Mariah Heuton had 8 kills each and Kolbi Peter had 6 right behind them. Kuemper and Greene County went to the final 3rd set with a chance to win each. Kuemper would pull away and pick up the 15-8 win to remain unbeaten. The Knights would face Ames later on in the Night.

Ames 1
21-16, 19-21, 15-7
Kuemper went into their 2nd matchup 1-0 on the night with an experienced 5-4 Ames team. The Knights being fresh helped them during set one as they would pick up the win 21-16. Each of the sets were very close with Kuemper being undefeated and Ames having 9 matches under their belt, it made it a good battle of programs early in the season. Kuemper’s front was once again strong but it was a team effort with 5 of the Knights being perfect in serving during this affair. Set two was another very closely contested battle but Ames was able to sneak away with it 21-19. This once again for back to back matches makes Kuemper and their opponent both knocking on the door of a win in need of a third set. The Knights turn up the heat under pressure as they would shut the door on this triangular with a 15-7 win. The Knights go a perfect 2-0 and remain undefeated on the year with a Humboldt Tournament coming up on Saturday.
