Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Kuemper Wins Matchup of Ranked Teams on Friday

Kuemper offense was balanced and impressive in a high scoring win over Cherokee in a matchup of ranked teams on Friday. The Knights ran for 214-yards on 40 attempts and passed the ball 32 times for 289-yards. They needed all of that and a big kickoff return from Griffin Glynn to keep Cherokee in chase mode. The Braves ran for 246-yards with Jaxon Paulsrud and Blake Lovell combining for 246-yards. The Knights struggled with penalties but kept digging themselves out of trouble.

The game was tight most of the 1st half with Kuemper going up 7-0 but Cherokee tying the game at 7.  Griffin Glynn set up the Knights with a big kick return and the Knights went up 14-7 on their way to a 23-20 lead at half. Kuemper controlled the 3rd quarter, getting big plays in the passing game with Brock Badding finding Braxton Vonnahme for a 34-yard touchdown and the ground game pounding with Jarin Hoffman rushing for 199-yards on 35 carries. They built a 36-20 lead heading into the 4th quarter. Both teams scored in  the 4th but the Knights held on to win by a couple scores.

Jarin Hoffman carried the ball 35 times with 199-yards and scored 3 touchdowns. Brock Badding went 17-31 passing for 289-yards and a pair of touchdowns. Brayton Alford made 7 catches for 137-yards and Braxton Vonnahme made 2 catches 59-yards and a touchdown. Case Kock paced the defense with 7 tackles.

Kuemper starts the season 1-0 and will travel to Algona on Friday on KIKD 106.7.
