Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: IKM-Manning Tops East Sac in Season Opener

IKM-Manning was able to sustain drives in the 1st half, scoring three touchdowns to build a 20-0 lead at half. East Sac moved the ball well on their opening drive, picking up several 1st downs before turning the ball over on downs at the Wolves 26-yard line. The Wolves methodically moved the ball downfield, scoring on the twelve play of the drive when Jon Rasmussen punched it in from 2-yards out. The opening possession for each team ate up most of the 1st quarter with IKM-Manning scoring with 47.7 left. Brennen Morris had the first of his two interceptions on the Raiders next possession and IKM-Manning took advantage. The Wolves marched 55-yards on six plays, scoring on a 4-yard run from Davis Rasmussen. The Wolves led 14-0 with 9:42 left in the 1st half. Neither team was able to accomplish much until late in the half. Dawson Allen recovered a fumble for East Sac to halt a Wolves possession but both teams punted several times in the 2nd quarter. The Wolves took over at their own 36-yard with 2:49 left in the half and went to a hurry up. They quickly moved down field and scored on the tenth play of the drive when Ben Ramsey found Wyatt Danner in the corner of the endzone for a 2-yard touchdown. IKM-Manning went for two but failed and led 20-0 at half.

The Wolves blew the game open on the opening drive of the 2nd half. Ben Ramsey hit Brock Kusel for a 25-yard touchdown with 8:20 to go in the 3rd, pushing the lead to 27-0. A Davis Rasmussen interception, the second of the game for IKM-Manning set up another score. Ben Ramsey snuck it in from 1-yard out to give IKM-Manning a 34-0 lead with 4:54 left in the 3rd quarter. Brennen Morris had his second interception on the Raiders second possession of the 2nd half. Ben Ramsey capitalized eight plays later, sneaking in from 1-yard out to give the Wolves a 40-0 lead with 10:05 left in the game. East Sac came alive on offense, establishing Weston Julin in the running game. They marched right down the field and scored with 7:25 left on a 2-yard run by Gabe King. The Raiders marched 91-yards on their final possession with Weston Julin hitting Ryan Peterson for a 4-yard touchdown with 30.7 left.

Ben Ramsey went 10-13 passing for IKM-Manning for 100-yards and a pair of touchdowns. He scored 2 rushing touchdowns on 45-yards rushing. Davis Rasmussen carried the ball 16 times for 105-yards and a touchdown. Brock Kusel had 1 catch and 25-yards and a touchdown and led the defense with 6 tackles. Eian Snyder had a pair of catches for 49-yards. Brennen Morris had a pair of interceptions.

Gabe King led the Raiders with 76-yards on 15 carries and a touchdown, Weston Julin had 9 carries with 65-yards. Ryan Peterson made 3 catches for 23-yards and a touchdown. Gabe King led the defense with 12 tackles.

IKM-Manning sits 1-0 and will host St Albert on Friday. East Sac opens the season 0-1 and will entertain Alta-Aurelia on Friday.
