Boyer Valley used their size up front to pound the ball against Ar-We-Va on Friday night, running the ball for 411-yards. They broke off a few big plays and Rockets Head Coach Austin Stoelk says his defense had a chance to make some plays, but struggled tackling, which is something they will focus on this week. The Rockets had good field position in the 1st half but weren’t able to sustain drives and turned the ball over twice as Boyer Valley built a 6-0 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and a 22-7 lead at half. The Rockets kept fighting in the 2nd half and played well in the 4th quarter. Boyer Valley extended their lead to 36-7 in the 3rd but Ar-We-Va scored quickly in the 4th quarter, pulling within two scores at 36-21. The Bulldogs sealed the win with their final score in the 4th quarter.
Wyatt Ragaller led the Rockets offensive attack with 112-yard rushing on 22 carries with Johnathan Riesselman going 7-8 passing for 55-yards. Devon Ehlers led the defense with 10 tackles, Damon Thomsen added 6.5 tackles and Tyson Von Glan had 5 tackles and recovered a fumble.
The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 on the season while Ar-We-Va opens the season 0-1. The Rockets host Glidden Ralston on Friday night on 93.7 KKRL.
