Exira-EHK started its season off on a strong note, sweeping Lenox 2-0. The reigning Rolling Valley conference champions came into the year with a strong 1-2 punch of Senior Jaelynn Petersen and Junior Taryn Petersen. Both contributed massively to the win. Taryn had six aces and seven kills. Jaelynn added 8 kills of her own. Zoey Rasmussen became the Spartans setter this year and she would have 15 assists tonight as the Spartans open up the triangular with a win to start the year 1-0.

A matchup of two local teams took place as the host school Coon Rapids-Bayard, took on Audubon. It was a very good matchup as both teams have high expectations for the young season. Malia Clayburg and Amelia Cook shone on the offensive end for the Crusaders as Clayburg had 11 Kills. Cook helped her out with 10 assists. Audubon was led by Anna Larsen as she had 15 assists and three aces as the Wheelers closed the gap in the 2nd set, but fell just short of capturing the 2nd. Coon Rapids-Bayard would shutout the Wheelers for a 2-0 win at home.

Coon Rapids-Bayard hosted Panorama in their other matchup of the evening triangular. Coon Rapids-Bayard’s veteran lineup really shone in the two matchups they had, especially against Panorama. 7 of the 10 girls who played were seniors as they have a deep senior class. Many of the statistics were more evenly distributed in the Panorama matchup, as more girls participated in this one. CRB would finish the night 2-0 and start the season off on a great note.

East Sac earned a nice win in their season opener, cruising to a three set win over GTRA. They dominated the first and third sets but were challenged in set two, pulling out a 25-18 win. The defense did a nice job making the Titans work for everything, allowing the Raiders offense to get into their rhythm.
Kate Schmitt paced the offense with 13 kills with Emerson Ludwig adding 9 kills, Haley Jo King had 6 kills and Tori Hauser had 5 digs. Jordin Carroll played very well, dishing out 32 assists to go with 5 digs. Sara Bontrager had 6 digs and Tori Hauser added 5 digs. Kate Schmitt paced a strong setting match with 5 aces.

East Sac nearly pulled off the sweep on Thursday, taking a 2-1 lead after three sets. They dropped the first set, 25-23 but rallied to win the next two sets, both 25-18. The Mustangs were able to force a 5th set and took control early on their way to a 15-7 win.
Kate Schmitt had a team high 20 kills for the Raiders with Miranda Gerdes adding 13 kills, Sarah Bontrager 10 kills and Emerson Ludwig 9 kills. Jordin Carroll had a huge match, passing for 46 assists. Tori Hauser had 15 digs with Lily Rodman adding 13 digs.
The Raiders are 1-1 and host their own tournament on Saturday.

Paton-Churdan traveled to Storm Lake to take on St. Marys on Thursday. The Rockets came into the matchup 1-0 after a win on Tuesday. PC won the first game 25-21 and took a 1-0 lead. After this it was a couple of errors each set that had the Rockets fall in the next 3. PC falls to 1-1 on the year.
