Kuemper used a balanced attack at the net with five players between two and six kills to earn a sweep against Underwood in their season opening match. They served tough, finishing with six aces, but more importantly they were able to get the Eagles out of system. Underwood had chances to steal set one and make things interesting, leading midway through but Kuemper closed the set with a strong run to earn a 25-18 win. Things landslide on Underwood in the second set. The Knights built the lead early and were able to relax down the stretch.
Kolbi Peter had a team high 6 kills with Brianna Wittrock adding 4 kills and Mariah Heuton and Alivia Schenkelberg both had 3 kills. Elsa Tiefenthaler moved the ball well, adding 17 assists. Kaylie Simons led a strong back row performance, ending the match with 12 digs. Brianna Wittrock finished with 6 digs and 3 blocks. Kaylie Simons and Mia Milligan both had 2 aces.

Kuemper completed the sweep of their two matches on Monday with a 2-0 win over Van Meter. The match was a tale of two sets with the Knights taking command of set one early and cruising to a win. Van Meter led the majority of set two but Kuemper had several players make critical plays late to help them squeeze out a tough win. The Knights never trailed in the opening set, using an 8-0 run service run from Elsa Tiefenthaler to break open the set. Brianna Wittrock put Kuemper up 2-1 with a kill and a Mariah Heuton kill gave the Knights the lead for good. Tiefenthaler followed the Heuton kill with a strong service run, using an ace and kills from Heuton, Brianna Wittrock and Addy Anthofer to build a 11-2 lead. The Knights used plenty Van Meter errors to keep the lead near double-digits. Addy Anthofer had a kill to make it 13-4 and Kaylie Simons followed it with an ace to push the lead to 14-4. The Bulldogs fought back with a 3-0 run but a kill from Brianna Wittrock stopped the run as the Knights never led by less than seven the rest of the game. Mariah Heuton and Brianna Witrock had big kills down the stretch and Kuemper won 25-12.
Van Meter played with more confidence in set two, building a 3-0 lead. Kolbi Peter tied the set with a kill as Kuemper pulled even at 3-3. Van Meter wouldn’t let the Knights get their footing, going back up 7-3. Kuemper struggled passing but they kept battling and Elsa Tiefenthaler and Kolbi Peter had back-to-back kills and the Knights were down 7-6. Van Meter responded again and pushed the lead to 10-7. The Knights evened the set at 11 and 12 before Kuemper grabbed a 13-12 lead. Van Meter responded with a 3-0 run to lead 15-13. Millie Anhofer kept the Knights close, pulling them within 15-14 and tying the set at 20. Anthofer gave Kuemper a late 22-21 lead but Van Meter responded, going on top 23-22. Kolbi Peter had a kill to tie the game at 23 and Brianna Wittrock gave them a 24-23 lead. Kolbi Peter added another kill to end the match with Kuemper winning 25-23 in set two.
Mariah Heuton had a team high 8 kills with Brianna Wittrock adding 6 kills, Kolbi Peter 5 kills and Millie Anthofer 4 kills. Elsa Tiefenthaler added 3 kills to go with 21 assists and 3 digs. Brianna Wittrock had 3 blocks and Mariah Heuton added a pair of blocks. Kaylie Simons had a team high 8 digs with Sophie Lohrmann finishing with 6 digs and Kolbi Peter added 5 digs.
The Knights are 2-0 as they head to Creston on Tuesday.

The Wildcats started the season with a nice win at home in a match that saw some really good ups and a few minor downs they will continue to work on. They dominated the opening set, winning 25-9, using a strong serve and good hitting at the net. Allison Snyder had a .700 kill efficiency in the match and Kassidy Wenck hit at a .600 kill efficiency. They were in a good rhythm with Amelia Garrett. The success in set one may have hurt the Wildcats in the second set. They struggled to serve receive and dig, creating issues with their play at the net. Collins Maxwell took advantage and tied the match with a 25-19 win. The Wildcats were still in a little bit of a funk early in set three, leading 11-10 before going on a tear, taking control of the match. A big run put them in command as they rolled to a 25-15 win. The momentum they gained in set three led to a quick start in the 4th set, going ahead 12-1. They settled in for the rest of the match and cruised to a 3-1 win.
Kassidy Wenck and Allison Snyder both had impressive games at the net with Wenck finishing with 14 kills and Snyder having 8 kills. Amelia Garrett did an outstanding job putting them in position to hit. She had 16 assists to go with a really strong night at the service line, serving 7 aces. Bryn Renze had a nice balanced game with 5 kills, 5 assists and 5 aces. MaKenna Wiederien had a really good night at the service line with 7 aces. Madilyn Trost added 8 assists.
The Wildcats are 1-0 and will head to the East Sac Tournament on Saturday.
