Congratulations to Chaun Bergmeier of Glidden-Ralston on being named the KCIM Rewind Softball Coach of the Year. Bergmeier led Glidden Ralston to their best record since 2018, going 15-7 to match their win total from 2023. They were 2nd in the Rolling Valley Conference, going 6-2 in the league, with their only losses coming to Conference Champ Woodbine. His team was extremely young this summer, starting four 8th graders and only having one senior on the team. They were an outstanding hitting team, batting .367, their best average in several years. Even though they were young on defense, with seven starters being sophomore or younger, they were good on defense, finishing with a .921 fielding percentage. Their best stretch of the season was early, topping Exira-EHK-Audubon to start a six game winning streak that included wins over Kuemper and ACGC. They were unlucky in the run, leading Unity Christian at the Newell Fonda Tournament before the game was rained out. They had a three game winnings streak late, which included two wins on the same day against Ar-We-Va and East Sac. The Wildcats are poised for a great season next summer.
