Her speed allowed her to get on base and create havoc for defenses. She finished the season hitting over .400 and stole 14 of 15 bases. Her speed also paid dividends in the outfield, covering a lot of ground in an outfield that ran well.

Gabby Hundling- Ar-We-Va- Sophomore

Hundling took a huge step forward this summer, gaining the confidence she needed to go along with her athleticism. She hit nearly .200 points higher than last season, finishing at nearly .390. Her improved swing allowed her to have 5 extra base hits, finishing second on the Rockets in RBI. She has really good speed and wasn’t thrown out in any of her stolen base attempts. Stangl was third on the team  in RBI and tied for the team lead in runs scored. Her hard-nosed effort makes her a good base runner, leading the team in steals. Stangl played a couple different positions on defense, spending most of the time at Shortstop.

Kaylie Wolterman- Kuemper- Junior

Wolterman was one of the top players for the Knights from game one, hitting nearly .400 this season. She tended to come up clutch at the plate, getting many big hits in big situations. Charlotte Schwabe- Kuemper- Freshman

Schwabe played a lot of positions for the Knights this season, finding her role in the circle to be much larger than they had expected. She added time at 2nd base and the outfield. None of the changes in position impacted her at the plate, leading the team with a nearly .460 average. Schwabe had nearly as many doubles as times she struck out. Bryn Renze- Glidden Ralston- 8th Grade

Renze was another one of the young Wildcats that didn’t play like she was getting her first varsity experience. She was tremendous at the plate, getting nearly .370. The Spartans began hitting their stride after Petersen returned to action about midway through the season. She played in just over half of their games and still had some of the best numbers in the area. She hit .393 with a team high four triples and was second on the team in runs scored. Her OPS was strong at 0.977. Petersen paced the team with 17 steals with several of those being 3rd base. Her athleticism allows her to make plays most infielders struggle to get to. They were 2nd in the Rolling Valley Conference, going 6-2 in the league, with their only losses coming  to Conference Champ Woodbine. His team was extremely young this summer, starting four 8th graders and only having one senior on the team. They were an outstanding hitting team, batting .367, their best average in several years. Even though they were young on defense, with seven starters being sophomore or younger, they were good on defense, finishing with a .921 fielding percentage. Their best stretch of the season was early, topping Exira-EHK-Audubon to start a six game winning streak that included wins over Kuemper and ACGC. They were unlucky in the run, leading Unity Christian at the Newell Fonda Tournament before the game was rained out. They had a three game winnings streak late, which included two wins on the same day against Ar-We-Va and East Sac. The Wildcats are poised for a great season next summer.
