CRB and Glidden-Ralston faced off in the 2nd round of the Class 1A playoffs. Glidden got here with a comeback win against Audubon last Saturday. CRB was awaiting the winner as they had a first round bye. Glidden-Ralston offense was slow all night with Cal Heydon starting off on the mound. Kuemper Vs ELC At Forest City- Class 2A Substate 1

Kuemper 2
Kuemper played well but wasn’t able to recover from one bad inning on Tuesday in Forest City. The Knights held ELC to 6 hits and gave un no earned runs but a pair of errors in the 2nd inning led to six unearned runs and a 6-1 deficit that Kuemper couldn’t overcome. The Knights scored first but then struggled to make good contact against Preston Cress who sat Kuemper down in order in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings. The Knights had a chance to get back in the game in the 5th, loading the bases and bringing the tying run to the plate but a hard line drive ended up going right at the Midget defense for the final out.
Mason Knerl reached on an error to open the game for Kuemper and scored on a ground ball by Charles Mayhall as Kuemper went up 1-0 in the bottom of the 1st. ELC nearly scored in the top of the 1st, loading the bases with 2-outs but Ryan Sundrup ended the threat with a strikeout. That didn’t miss their opportunity in the top of the 2nd inning. A 1-out error put a runner at 1st and ELC sacrificed him to 2nd as Kuemper had the Midgets with 2-outs. A pair of singles and back-to-back walks started the rally for ELC. That was followed by a pair of errors, including a 3-run error that pushed the lead to 6-1. The Midgets stranded runners on base in the 3rd. 5th and 7th inning as Ryan Sundrup and Mason Knerl kept coming up big on the mound to keep Kuemper within striking distance. Noah Reiman started a rally in the 5th with a single. Alex Pudenz reached on an error and Caden Vonnahme hit into a fielder’s choice but Reiman was thrown out at home. Mason Knerl singled to pull Kuemper within 6-2 but the Knights couldn’t close the gap.
