Denison Schleswig At Kuemper- Completion of suspended game from June 17th and regular scheduled game

Kuemper built a 5-0 lead in Denison on June 17th and held on to get the win on Thursday. The Monarchs made a charge when the game was resumed and had a chance to tie or take the lead in the 6th. The Knights got out of a bases loaded jam with a force out at 2nd base. Mason Knerl closed out the game on the hill, getting the final out on a pop up to 2nd base with a runner on 1st base.

Aaron McDermott doubled in the 1st inning last month and scored as the Knights built a 3-0 lead. Landon Pottebaum and Noah Reiman both had an RBI with Reiman singling. They added a pair of runs in the 4th before the game was suspended with Ryan Sundrup scoring on a sac fly by Aaron McDermott and Thomas Pottebaum scoring on a wild pitch. The game resumed in the bottom of the 4th on Thursday and Denison Schleswig had a 2-out rally, starting with a walk and an RBI single. They added a run in the 5th with three singles but left the bases loaded. The Monarchs almost took the lead or tied the game in the bottom of the 6th, scoring a pair of runs with three singles but Mason Knerl induced a ground ball to end the inning. Kuemper threatened in the 5th with Landon Pottebaum singling and getting stranded at 3rd when the Knights left the bases loaded. Pottebaum singled again in the 7th and was stranded at 2nd base as the Knights took a 5-4 lead into the bottom 7th. The Monarchs got a pair of runners on base but a the game ended with a fly ball to Noah Reiman at 2nd base.

Aaron McDermott had a pair of doubles, driving in a run and scoring a run. Landon Pottebaum had a pair of hits and an RBI with Noah Reiman and Thomas Pottebaum both having a hit with Reiman having an RBI and Pottebaum scoring a run.

The win moved Kuemper to 14-13 heading into the second game.

Noah Reiman came up huge with a 2 RBI single in the bottom of the 8th, helping Kuemper win a game that swung back and forth with the teams combining for 17-runs over the final 2 1/2 innings. The Knights scored a pair of runs in the 6th to take a 3-1 lead. Charles Mayhall singled to start the rally and Griffin Bauer ran for him. Ryan Sundrup reached on an error, putting two runners on base. Thomas Pottebaum singled to score Bauer and Sundrup was thrown out at the plate. Nash Leonard walked and Alex Pudenz grounded out to 2nd base but scored Thomas Pottebaum, giving Kuemper a 3-1 lead. The Monarchs didn’t flinch in the 7th. A walk and a pair of singles sandwhiched around a strikeout loaded the bases. The Monarchs kept the inning going with a walk, single and a hit-by-pitch before Kuemper made an error, making the score 6-3. Another walk was followed a batter later with a 2 RBI single and Denison Schleswig went up 8-3. The Knights had the top of the order coming up to start the bottom of the 7th and it paid off. Mason Knerl singled and took 2nd on an error. Aaron McDermott and Landon Pottebaum walked to load the bases. A 1-out walk by Ryan Sundrup scored a run and Thomas Pottebaum kept it going with another walk. Noah Reiman hit a fly ball that was dropped by the left fielder, scoring a run, making it 8-6. Alex Pudenz walked to score Ryan Sundrup and Caden Vonnahme singled to tie the game, scoring Thomas Pottebaum. The Knights had the bases loaded with 1-out but couldn’t score the game winner. That left the door open for Denison Schleswig and they opened it in the top of the 8th. A walk to open the inning led to a run with Cole Kastner doubled to put the Monarchs up 9-8. Kuemper got out of a bases loaded jam with Charles Mayhall getting a big strikeout. Landon Pottebaum doubled to open the bottom half for the Knights. Charles Mayhall had a bunt single and Kuemper had runners on the corners. Ryan Sundrup hit into a fielder’s choice but Landon Pottebaum was thrown out at home. Kuemper moved Sundrup to 2nd, giving them runners on 2nd and 3rd and Denison Schleswig walked Thomas Pottebaum to load the bases. Noah Reiman came to the plate and drove an outside pitch to right field scoring Mayhall and Ryan Sundrup with the game winner.

Noah Reiman had 1 hit but 2 RBI while Thomas Pottebaum had 2 hits with 3 RBI and scored twice. Mason Knerl had a pair of hits and scored a run. Charles Mayhall had 2 hits and scored 2 runs while earning the win, going 1 2/3 innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 earned runs with 2 strikeouts. Landon Pottebaum had a double and Ryan Sundrup scored a pair of runs.

Kuemper improved to 15-13 to end the regular season.

Tri Center At IKM-Manning

It was a rough final game of the regular season for IKM-Manning as the Wolves were no hit by Tri Center while the Trojans had 11 hits, helping them score 12-runs. IKM-Manning had several baserunners with eight guys reaching base with a walk or hit-by-pitch. The Wolves weren’t able to take advantage of the baserunners. Tri Center scored 5-runs in the 1st inning but the Wolves were able to keep them for having any big innings after that. They led 7-0 going into the 5th when they scored 3-runs. A 2-run 6th inning helped them end the game.

Rylan Mundt scored for the Wolves with Andrew Greving going 2 innings, allowed 4 hits and 1 earned runs.

The Wolves are 7-15 heading into their District game against Newell Fonda on 93.7 KKRL on Saturday at 5:00.

Aidan Albright singled and moved to 2nd base on a single by Cooper Nattress. He scored later in the 1st inning on a wild pitch and the Titans grabbed a 1-0 lead. The Titans didn’t score again but did have guys get on base. Andrew Anderson singled in the 3rd but the Titans hit into a double play to end the inning. Cooper Nattress was hit-by-pitch in the 4th and John Patterson singled but they were stranded on 2nd and 3rd base. Aidan Albright singled again in the 5th but was forced out at 2nd on a fielder’s choice by Andrew Anderson. A walk to Cooper Nattress put two runners on and Caleb Juhl helped them load the bases but a ground out ended the threat. OABCIG didn’t score in the 1st but were steady the rest of the game, scoring 2-runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings before heating up with 4-runs in both the 5th and 6th inning to end the game.

Aidan Albright had a pair of hits and scored a run and Andrew Anderson, Cooper Nattress and John Patterson all had a single.

The Titans end the regular season 8-11. They face SE Valley on Saturday in the opening round of Districts at ELC on KIKD 106.7 at 5:00.
