Ar-We-Va at Glidden-Ralston

Glidden-Ralston and Ar-We-Va both played two games on Tuesday. Glidden had Ar-We-Va and East Sac. Ar-We-Va had Glidden and South Central Calhoun. Ar-We-Va batted 1st and totalled five hits throughout the night. They would fail to see the results of their offense until the 6th inning. The Wildcats would total 14 hits throughout the six innings. In the 1st, they would get two runs across. The Wildcats doubled their lead in the 2nd as they would add two more runs. Amber Ragaller did a nice job of pitching for the Rockets as she gave up no walks. The Wildcats combated that with their 14 hits. Glidden-Ralston would score three runs in the 4th to take a 7-0 lead after four innings. In the 6th, the Rockets would get their two runs from Morgan Berg and Addison Bierl. The Wildcats would add their final 3 in the bottom of the 6th to win 10-2 at home.

Glidden-Ralston hosted East Sac in their 2nd game of the night. It was a successful night for the Wildcats as they would total 9 hits and only give up 2. East Sac would score the 1st run of the night in the 2nd inning. Jordin Carroll blasted a home run in to deep center field to go up 1-0 after 2. Glidden-Ralston would gain the lead in the 3rd as they would score 2 runs to go up 2-1. East Sac would fail to score in the final 3 innings. Glidden-Ralston would add 4 in the 4th to go up 6-1 after 4. The Wildcats would close out the game with 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th to win it 9-1 and go 2-0 on the day.

Cross town rivals Carroll and Kuemper faced off in softball Tuesday. It was a sunny and perfect weather day at the Carroll softball field. Kuemper started off with Chloe Gehling and Charlotte Schwabe scoring for the Knights. They added another 3 runs to go up 5-0 in the top of the 1st. Carroll would go 3 up and 3 down as they would trail 5-0 after the 1st. Chloe Gehling would score her 2nd run of the night in the 2nd to help the Knights take a 2-0 lead after 2. Kuemper would add 5 more runs on 4 hits. Chloe Gehling would get her 3rd score of the night with a triple and than a sac fly from Charlotte Schwabe. Carroll would get their run in the bottom of the 3rd with Morgan Schagt reaching on an error and scoring for the Tigers. Kuemper would have Ellee Schreck and Morgan Masching score for the Knights as they would pick up 13-1 win.

Exira-EHK-Audubon traveled to Newell-Fonda for softball on Tuesday. Both teams came into the game red hot with EEHKA beating two ranked opponents in their last 2 games. Newell picked up where they have been all season as they would score 2 runs in the 1st inning to go up 2-0. EEHKA would have Riley Miller reach off of an error but the Spartans failed to score. Exira-EHK-Audubon would go 3 and out in the next 3 innings going into the 5th. Lucy Stanerson would reach on a HBP and score for the Spartans in the 5th. Taryn Petersen would hit a single and score in the 6th. Alissa Testroet would score the final un for the Spartans in the bottom of the 7th to pull off the 3-2 win on the road.

CRB took on Storm Lake St. Mary’s in a varsity doubleheader on Tuesday. It was a road trip for the Crusaders. Both teams failed to score in the 1st. The Panthers would add their 1st run in the 2nd. CRB would get Aubrey Hofbauer, Carlie Mason, and Adalynn Spangler score to take a 3-1. The Panthers would tie it up in the 4th with 2 runs crossing. The Panthers would score 2 more in the 5th and finish the game with 8 runs in the 6th to win it 13-3. The Crusaders held a lead and had a successful 3rd inning but the offense ran dry as they headed into a 2nd game of 2.

Coon Rapids-Bayard and Storm Lake St. Mary’s faced off in the 2nd game of doubleheader. CRB opened up the 1st with a run to lead 1-0 after the 1st. Both teams would fail to score in the 2nd. The Panthers would tie it up in the 3rd with a run. The Panthers would add 2 more in the 4th as they grew their lead to 3-1 after 4. Both teams would score a run in the 5th to make it 4-2. The Panthers would double their score with 4 runs. CRB would get a run of their own to make it 8-3. The Panthers would score 6 more to close the 7th and win 14-3.

River Valley At IKM-Manning

IKM-Manning was 1-run away from ending the game in 4 innings, leading 10-1 going to the 5th inning and they were 3-outs away from winning in 7 innings but River Valley rallied to send the game to extra innings and earned a win in a game with two teams that will meet next week in the opening round of the postseason. 

Anna Stangl and Alikxa McGinn scored in the 1st inning with Karlee Arp driving in a run as the Wolves went up 2-0. They added a run in the 2nd with Laura McCarville singling and Caylie Rasmussen scoring. River Valley added a run in the 3rd but the Wolves exploded in the bottom of the 3rd and grabbed control of the game early. Alikxa McGinn reached on an error in the 3rd and Karlee Arp got on base, followed by Kadynce Ketcham getting hit-by-pitch and Taylor Beckendorf driving in a run.  Macy Rasmussen kept the streak going, getting on base and driving in a run. Laure McCarville drove in a run, reaching on an error with Alexis Olson reaching on an error. A third River Valley error scored another run and the Wolves were up 9-1. Karlee Arp doubled to start the 4th inning and her run pushed the lead to 10-1. Macy Rasmussen got on base but the Wolves couldn’t get the extra run to end the game. Karlee Apr doubled in the 8th but was stranded at 2nd as the Wolves missed a chance to win. The Wolverines rally began with 2-outs in the 5th, scoring 3-runs to pull within 10-4. They added a run in the 6th but the Wolves led 10-5 going to the 7th. Three straight walks to start the 7th, followed by a single and a triple and River Valley was back in the game. A defensive miscue helped River Valley to tie the game. The game remained tied into the 9th. A leadoff single led to a run for River Valley, giving them an 11-10 lead. 

Karlee Arp had a pair of doubled with an RBI and scored twice. Anna Stangl had a pair of RBI and scored a run. Kegan Eischeid had 2 RBI, Alikxa McGinn scored a pair of runs and Taylor Beckendorf drove in 2 RBI. 

The loss drops the Wolves to 8-16 as they head to MVAOCOU on Wednesday.
