Carroll at Gilbert

Carroll came red hot off of a shut out win vs Kuemper and faced a Racoon River conference opponent in Gilbert. The game was all Gilbert early as they would shut out Carroll in the top of the 1st and get 3 runs of their own to go up 3-0 after 1. Both teams would go scoreless in the 2nd. Gilbert would strike again in the 3rd with 2 runs and taking a 5-0 lead after 3 innings. The pitching for Carroll was in the zone tonight but Gilbert totaled 15 hits and every run they scored was earned. Both teams would strike in the 4th with Carroll getting 2 runs in the 4th and Gilbert getting 1 run. This was the only inning Carroll’s offense would strike and score as they would fall short in the 5th. Gilbert would put the final nail in the coffin with 6 runs in the 5th and win it 12-2.

South Central Calhoun hosted Newell-Fonda in a varsity baseball matchup Wednesday evening. It was a very close matchup all game with a better hitting night out of the Titans to prevail. SCC and Newell would trade runs in the 1st. Newell would score 1 run to go up 1-0 after the top. SCC would double that and go up 2-1 after 1. The Titans scoring offense would come in spurts with them scoring in 2 innings only. 5 different Titans scored in the game. They would score 3 more runs in the 3rd inning to go up 5-1 after 3. Newell would add 1 in the 4th and 1 in the 5th to make it 5-3 after 5. SCC would hold Newell to 0 runs in the next 2 innings and pick up the 5-3 win at home.

East Sac hosted Pocahontas Area on Wednesday evening. East Sac out hit Pocahontas 14-8 but the Raiders had 7 errors on the defensive end. Both teams went scoreless in the 1st. Pocahontas scored their 1st run in the 2nd and led 1-0 after the top of the 2nd. East Sac would battle back and add 2 runs to be up 2-1 after 2. Pocahontas added 2 runs of their own while East Sac would get 1 to tie it up 3-3 after 3. East Sac would fail to score in the next 4 innings as Pocahontas would take advantage of the absence. Pocahontas would add 1 in the 5th, 3 in the 6th and explode for 9 in the top of the 7th to pick up the 16-3 victory on the road.

Glidden-Ralston went to Woodbine on Wednesday evening. It was a slow offensive night for the Wildcats. They would total 4 hits on the night and no walks in a pretty clean pitched night for Woodbine. Woodbine would get their offense in the 2nd with 3 runs scored. They would turn around and add 4 more in the 3rd to go up 7-0. The game would go all 7 innings with Woodbine would add their final run in the 5th. Collin Sturm, Jonathan Bergmeier, Carson Peters, and Alex Daniel would get the 4 hits for the Wildcats as they fell 8-0 in 7 innings.

Ar-We-Va and Boyer Valley faced off in Dunlap on Wednesday evening. BV sat at 4th in the Rolling Valley and AWV sat at 5th with both teams being 3-6 in the conference. Both teams would come out and go scoreless in the 1st inning with Ar-We-Va loading the bases and failing to score. Wyatt Ragaller would strike out 2 batters to end the 1st. In the 2nd inning, Boyer Valley would have their lead off hitters with Logan Thomsen and Levi Reinke score to take a 2-0 lead. Ar-We-Va would turn things up in the 3rd with Blayne Smith hitting a lead off triple and scoring. Jonathan Riesselman would score right after as the Rockets would tie it up 2-2 going into the bottom of the 3rd. Boyer Valley would turn that around with two runs with Wyatt Ragaller in. Blayne Smith would come in with 2 outs and Levi Reinke would blast a shot into left field that would fall over the fense. BV led 5-2 after 3. Wyatt Ragaller, Blayne Smith, and Jonathan Rieselman would lead off and all reach before scoring 3 for the Rockets. Ar-We-Va would add another run from Ragaller and Smith in the 5th before slamming the door on BV in the 7th to win it 7-6.

Audubon went to CAM in their final regular season matchup. It was a good defensive matchup to open the night as only 6 hits were given up with each team getting 3. Both teams would fail to score until the 2nd. Mason Steckler would score 1st with Carson Hansen scoring after. Audubon would go up 3-0 in the 5th with Jack Stanersen scoring on a pass ball. Cam would rush back into it with 2 in the bottom of the 5th to make it 3-2 after 5. They would add their final 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th to close out a comeback win 4-3.
