South Central Calhoun At Carroll

Carroll earned their first win of the season, pulling away with a huge bottom of the 3rd inning to top South Central Calhoun in 4 innings. The Titans were in the game, pulling within 8-4 heading into the bottom of the 3rd, scoring 3-runs in the top 3rd. Carroll sent eighteen batters to the plate in the 3rd, scoring 12-runs on 9-hits. The Tigers looked like they would pull away early, scoring 6-runs on 3 hits in the 1st inning, sending eleven batters to the plate. The Titans battled back, getting a run in the 2nd and 3-runs in the 3rd to trail 8-4.

Emma Danner was sharp in the circle for Carroll, striking out the side in the 1st inning. The Tigers took advantage of the momentum in the bottom half. Brylee Mrla singled but was thrown out at 2nd on a great throw by Shannon Melody and a nice tag by Morgan McChesney. Tahlia Hahn reached on the error and scored on a single by Bailey Bowman. Emma Danner reached on an error and Kyla Owen walked. Teagan McCool singled and Carroll led 2-0. Cayla Cummings picked up an RBI and Audrey Huegrich reached on an error as Carroll kept finding ways to score and get on base. Brylee Mrla singled for the second time in the inning, driving in a run and Carroll led 6-0 after the 1st inning. Kenley Wuebker reached on an error to start the 2nd inning for South Central Calhoun. She stole 2nd base and scored on a Tiger error after a strikeout. The Tigers added a pair of runs in the bottom of the 2nd with Bailey Bowman doubling and scoring on a single by Emma Danner. Saiya Piehl ran for Danner and scored on a single by Teagan McCool. The Tigers were up 8-1 heading to the 3rd. A 1-out double by Morgan McChesney in the top of the 3rd jump started South Central Calhoun. Shannon Melody singled to score McChesney   and Melody scored on a single by Kenly Wuebker. A Tiger error scored Wuebker and the Titans had pulled within 8-4. Carroll blew the game open in the bottom of the 3rd, scoring 12-runs on 9 hits, highlighted by several Tigers that went 2-2 in the inning. Brylee Marla had two singles, driving in 2 RBI and scoring 2-runs. Tahlia Hahn had a double and single and scored twice and Bailey Bowman had a pair of singles, driving in a run and scoring twice. Carroll batted eighteen girls in the inning.

Bailey Bowman and Brylee Mrla were both 4-4 with Bowman doubling, driving in 2 RBI and scoring 4 runs. Mrla had 3 RBI and scored a pair of runs. Tahlia Hahn had 2 hits with a double and scored 3 runs. Saiya Piehl had 3 runs scored. Teagan McCook had a pair of hits with 3 RBI and scored 2 runs. Cayla Cummings had 2 hits with 2 RBI and scored a run. Kyla Owen had 2 RBI and scored twice and Emma Danner doubled with an RBI. Danner got the win for Carroll, going 4 innings, allowing 2 hits and 2 earned runs with 7 strikeouts.

Morgan McChesney doubled and Kenley Wuebker had a base hit. Shannon Melody had an RBI and Wuebker scored 2 runs and McChesney scored a run along with Melody.

Carroll moves to 1-16 and will host Boone on Friday to finish a doubleheader postponed earlier this week. South Central Calhoun falls to 0-14 and will head to SE Valley on Friday.

IKM-Manning At Riverside

IKM-Manning 4    (4 Innings)

 

IKM-Manning struggled in the 1st inning against the 8th ranked Bulldogs, giving up 7-runs on 3-hits and 6-walks. Riverside sent twelve batters to the plate. The Wolves battled back in the top of the 3rd and looked like they had a chance to push the Bulldogs. Keagan Eischeid had a 1-out double and Alikxa McGinn singled to score Caylie Rasmussen, who was running for Eischeid. Karlee Arp added a single, followed by an RBI single from Kadynce Ketcham. Taylor Beckendorf drove in Hannah McKinney, who was running for Ketcham and IKM-Manning cut the deficit to 7-4. The game got away from the Wolves in the bottom of the 3rd. Riverside got a 1-out single, then took advantage of four walks surrounding a single that drove in a pair of runs. The Bulldogs sent fourteen batters to the inning, scoring 8-runs. IKM-Manning went down in order in the 4th, ending the game.

Taylor Beckendorf had a pair of hits and an RBI for IKM-Manning. Alikxa McGinn and Keagan Eischeid both doubled with McGinn driving in a run and scoring. Karlee Arp and Macy Rasmussen both had a base hit with Arp scoring a run and Rasmussen driving in a run.

The Wolves fall to 8-13 overall and will head to Woodbine Saturday for the Tigers tournament.
