Audubon At Underwood

Audubon battled, hanging in the game until the 5th inning when Underwood started to pull away. The Wheelers tied the game in the 3rd, collecting three hits while benefiting from a Eagle error. They finished the game with seven hits while giving up eleven hits combined between three pitchers.

Underwood struck first, scoring 3-runs in the 1st inning after the Wheelers had left a couple runners on base. The Eagles looked like they may expand the lead in the 2nd with the bases loaded and 1-out but Hudson Hocker struck out two straight batters to get out of trouble. That helped spark the Wheelers offense in the 3rd. Aiden Kjergaard singled to start the inning and Jack Stanerson reached on an error. Kjergaard scored on a passed ball and moments later Brody Schultes doubled to score Stanerson. With 2-outs, Mason Steckler singled to centerfield and Brody Schultes tied the game at 3. The game remained tied until the 4th inning when Underwood hit a leadoff home run, then added two more runs, taking a 6-3 lead. The Eagles separated with 4-runs in the 5th, highlighted by four hits, a walk and a Wheeler error. The game ended in the 6th on a base hit, giving the Eagles their third run in the inning.

Brody Schultes had a double, driving in a run and scored a run. Carson Wessel and Mason Steckler both had a pair of hits with Steckler adding an RBI. Aiden Kjergaard and Jack Stanerson both scored a run.

Audubon falls to 5-12 overall and will host Missouri Valley on Tuesday.

Coon Rapids Bayard rallied late to earn a hard fought win and remain a game up in the race for the Rolling Valley Conference. They trailed 2-1 after both teams scored in the 3rd inning. The offense had sputtered until then, finishing with five hits. Mason Culbertson  have them a great start, helping them stay in the game, allowing 1-hit and no earned runs through 6 innings. Coon Rapids Bayard trailed 2-1 as the bottom of the 5th began. Eli McAlister had a clutch 2-out single to score the tying run. They added 3 more runs in the 6th, using a pair of bunts to keep pressure on the defense. Parker Hays had a squeeze bunt to score a run.

Mason Culbertson had a strong game on the hill, going 6 innings with 1 hit and 6 strikeouts. Jace Baker continues his strong season with a base hit and an RBI. Caden Oswald had a team high 2 hits with Max Shirbroun adding a base hit and scoring twice. Eli McAlister had a base hit and RBI and Parker Hays had an RBI and scored a run.

The Crusaders moved to 17-3 overall and head to Glidden Ralston on Wednesday.

Colby Wallace pitched a complete game no-hitter, striking out 11 as the Wildcats battled for the win on Monday. The offense struggled, getting guys on base but not able to string things together until the 5th inning. The defense was fantastic behind Wallace, shutting down the Spartans whenever they threatened with guys on base.

Landon Rohrbeck began the 5th beating out an infield single. He stole 2nd base and was followed by a single from Carson Peters, scoring Rohrbeck. Alex Daniel singled and Collin Sturm added a single. Jonathan Bergmeier had a sac fly to score Carson Peters. Alex Daniel scored when Lucas Christian reached on an error. Blayce Nelson doubled to score Lucas Christian. The Wildcats led 5-0 going into the 6th.

Colby Wallace earned a win, going 7 innings, allowing no hits while striking out 11 and walking 5. Blayce Nelson had a pair of hits, including a double with an RBI. Carson Peters had 2 hits with an RBI and scored a run. Collin Sturm, Landon Rohrbeck and Alex Daniel all had a base hit and scored a run.

The Wildcats improved to 6-9 overall and will host Coon Rapids Bayard on Wednesday.

East Sac had plenty of offense on Monday but couldn’t close the door on Sioux Central, which kept hanging around before using a big 6th inning to take control of a game that East Sac led 10-7 going into the 5th inning. Sioux Central scored 3-runs in the 5th to tie the game, then erupted for 8-runs in the 6th, forcing the Raiders to use three pitchers to get through the inning. East Sac tried to fight back in the bottom 7th with Jack Gullett singling, Beckem Kluver singled with 1-out and Ryan Peterson hit a double to score a run. Gabe King capped the scoring with a fielder’s choice with 2-outs. Sioux Central ended the game with the Raiders having two runners on base.

The Raiders took the early lead with 5-runs in the bottom of the 1st inning, adding 2 more runs in the 2nd, leading 7-4. Sioux Central tied the game in the 4th but the Raiders responded with 3-runs to lead 10-7.

Beckem Kluver had a team high 3 hits with an RBI and a run scored. Jack Gullett and Zach Jacobsen both had 2 hits with both having an RBI and Gullett scoring twice. Landon Sporrer, Ryan Peterson and Cael Roth all had a double. Tucker Grosely had  a pair of RBI and scored a pair of runs.

The loss drops the Raiders to 3-11 overall as they get ready to host Manson NW Webster on Wednesday on 93.7 KKRL.
