Kuemper was held to one hit but made the most of it on Friday morning, squeaking out a 3-0 win over Atlantic. Ryan Sundrup was a big part of the win, holding Atlantic to two hits and pitching shutout ball. A big strikeout in the top of the 1st got the Knights out of some trouble and Atlantic never threatened again. The Trojans only had four baserunners after the 1st inning and none of them reached 2nd base. The Knights scored a run in three different innings but also left seven runners in scoring position.
Atlantic had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1-out in the 1st inning but Ryan Sundrup got a strikeout and then induced a fly ball to centerfield to get out of the inning with no damage done. Kuemper had a chance to score in the 1st inning, but stranded Aaron McDermott at 2nd base. They broke through in the 2nd, taking a 1-0 lead when Thomas Pottebaum walked and scored on a balk. The Knights had three batters walk in the inning, leaving two on base. A walk to Mason Knerl to lead off the bottom 3rd led to the second Kuemper run. Landon Pottebaum singled, scoring Knerl from 2nd base. Kuemper led 2-0 going into the 5th. Aaron McDermott was hit-by-pitch, as was Landon Pottebaum. Kuemper missed a chance to extend the lead. They made up for it in the 6th inning. Thomas Pottebaum was hit-by-pitch and scored on a sac fly from Alex Pudenz. Ryan Sundrup only allowed one hit for Atlantic. That was a single by Hudson McLaren in the 3rd inning.
Ryan Sundrup earned the win on the hill, going 7 innings, allowing 1 hit and striking out 6. Landon Pottebaum had their only hit and Thomas Pottebaum turned a walk and hit-by-pitch into a pair of runs scored.
The Knights improve to 10-8 and will head to Coon Rapids Bayard on 93.7 KKRL on Friday evening.

Carroll was on target in all facets of the afternoon game in Storm Lake on Friday. They had four players with multiple hits, finishing with 10 hits as a team. Jackson Gross was in control on the hill, going the distance, allowing only 4 hits and no earned runs. The Tigers scored in nearly every inning, slowing pulling away. They didn’t have any big innings offensively but consistently put guys on base and were able to score a pair of runs in the 3rd and 4th innings to build a 5-1 lead. Carroll never trailed taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd only to have Storm Lake score an unearned run in the bottom of the 2nd to tie the game. The Tigers added a run in the 2nd and then pulled away in the 3rd and 4th.
Braxton Lu paced the offensive attack with a pair of doubles as part of a 3-hit game. He added 3 RBI. Mason Stitz, Stone Sibenaller and Carter Essick all had 2-hits with Stitz hitting a double, Sibenaller and Essick both scored a run. Tallon Crandall scored 3-runs, getting on base in numerous ways. Jackson Gross went the distance for the win, allowing 4-hits and 0 earned runs with 8 strikeouts.
The Tigers are 6-10 and will host Boone for a varsity doubleheader on Monday.

Kuemper earned a win on Friday night to go 2-0 on the day. They used a big 2nd inning to grab a lead they wouldn’t relinquish, getting solid pitching performances from Landon Pottebaum and Charles Mayhall. The Knights had three guys thrown out at home and Coon Rapids Bayard had five errors that helped the Knights extend innings as both teams felt they missed some opportunities.
The game changed in the 3rd after both teams had scored twice in the 1st inning. Noah Reiman led off for Kuemper with a single and Alex Pudenze put down a sac bunt that was misplayed by Coon Rapids Bayard. The Knights had runners on 1st and 2nd with 1-out, then loaded the bases on an Aaron McDermott walk. Mason Knerl was hit-by-pitch and Charles Mayhall tripled to dead centerfield, putting Kuemper up 6-2. Mayhall scored on a ground out by Landon Pottebaum but Kuemper led 7-2. Coon Rapids Bayard looked like they would answer in the bottom half as Mason Culbertson doubled with 1-out. Cal Heydon was intentionally walked (he was 4 times in the game) and Ty Heydon singled to right field scoring both runners. Landon Pottebaum got out of trouble with a big strikeout and Kuemper was up 7-4. Kuemper didn’t score in the top of the 3rd and Coon Rapids Bayard had the bases loaded with 2-outs and didn’t score. The Knights took command of the game in the 4th with doubles by Mason Knerl and Landon Pottebaum, followed by a single by Ryan Sundrup. The Crusaders got run back in the bottom of the 4th but Kuemper maintained their lead the rest of the game. The Knights had a 2-out rally in the top of the 7th, scoring a pair of runs to lead 13-5. As anticipated the Crusaders tried to rally in the 7th. The Knights had two errors in the inning and walked three straight batters, helping Coon Rapids Bayard score 3-runs. Charles Mayhall ended the game with a strikeout to give the Knights a 13-8 win.
Charles Mayhall had a triple and 3 RBI for Kuemper, also pitched 4 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 earned run with 5 strikeouts. Mason Knerl doubled and scored 4 runs, Noah Reiman scored twice and Landon Pottebaum had a team high 2 hits (tying with Mason Knerl) with 3 RBI.
Ty Heydon had 2 RBI for Coon Rapids Bayard. Mason Culbertson and Jace Baker both had 2 hits with both having a double and Baker adding a pair of RBI. Cal Heydon scored 3 runs and was intentionally walked 4 times.
The Knights are 11-8 and head to Creston on Monday for a doubleheader. Coon Rapids Bayard falls to 16-3 and will host Boyer Valley on Monday.

Ar-We-Va nearly had a huge win on Friday, leading Woodbine 8-4 heading into the 6th inning. The Tigers rallied with a pair of runs in the 6th, then tied the game in the 7th before winning with a 3-run 9th inning. The Rockets played some of their best ball of the season but a couple mistakes down the stretch opened the door for Woodbine. Ar-We-Va finished with 3-hits, two of them doubles, one from Wyatt Ragaller and the other from Johnathan Riesselman. They took advantage of thirteen walks from Tiger pitchers. A 5-run 3rd inning gave them the lead, after surrendering 4-runs in the 1st inning. Ar-We-Va added 3-runs in the 5th and looked to be in control of the game. Woodbine scored 2-runs in the 6th, chipping away, then added a pair of runs in the top 7th. The Rockets couldn’t string hits together down the stretch or in extra innings.
Wyatt Ragaller, Johnathan Riesselman and Devon Ehlers all had a hit with Ragaller and Riesselman both doubling. Wyatt Ragaller scored twice with Ehlers driving in a pair of RBI. Blayne Smith scored twice and walked 3 times. Johnthan Riesselman pitched 2 2/3 innings, allowing 2 hits and 2 earned runs.
The Rockets fall to 2-7 and will host CAM on Monday.

The Wheelers continue to play good baseball, even in a loss to Treynor on Friday. Audubon scored first but Treynor was steady at the plate scoring in each of the last four innings. The Wheelers held the Cardinals to a run in each of the last four innings but Audubon didn’t score after the 1st inning, until the 7th inning.
Carson Wessel singled in the 1st to score Brody Schultes and Audubon led 1-0. Treynor tied the game with a run in the 2nd, with a bases loaded walk. The Cardinals took the lead for good with a run in the 4th on a wild pitch. The unlucky breaks kept up for the Wheelers in the 5th as Treynor scored another run on a wild pitch with 2-outs. The Wheelers walked in a run in the 6th, giving Treynor a 4-1 lead. They added an insurance run on a ground out in the 7th. Audubon had gotten guys on base during the game but hadn’t scored since the 1st. Adam Obrecht and Ryan Hermansen had back-to-back singles in the 7th to start the potential rally. A walk to Jack Stanerson loaded the bases and Adam Obrecht scored on a fielder’s choice for the 2nd out, making it 5-2.
Carson Wessel, Adam Obrecht and Ryan Hermansen all singled for the Wheelers with Brody Schultes and Adam Obrecht each scoring a run. Brody Schultes and Carson Wessel both had an RBI. Aaron Olsen pitched 4 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 earned run with 4 strikeouts.
Audubon falls to 5-11 overall and will head to Underwood on Monday.

The Wolves earned a nice win on the road, getting an outstanding pitching performance from Karsyn Lorenzen. He held AHSTW in check all game, allowing an unearned run in the 6th after walking a couple of batters earlier in the inning. He finished with 3 walks and only allowed 2 hits. His offense gave him a lead, scoring a run in the 1st, 2nd and 4th innings. Rylan Mundt drove in a run with a base hit, Brock Kusel doubled to drive in a run and Karsyn Lorenzen added an RBI base hit. Luke Doyle scored twice and Isaac Blankman, who had hit a frozen rope in the game reached on a bunt single and scored. Abe Polzien added a base hit as did Jace Starman.
The Wolves move to 6-11 on the season and host Tri Center on Monday.

Glidden Ralston offense erupted after a tough game on Thursday, pouring in 11-runs on 8 hits, helped out by 6-errors by CAM. The problem for the Wildcats on Friday was they couldn’t slow down the Cougars who scored 18-runs on 12-hits with the help of 8 Wildcat errors. Glidden Ralston grabbed a 3-0 in the top of the 1st, but CAM responded with 4-runs in the bottom half. The Wildcats tied the game with a run in the 2nd but CAM went up 6-4 with a pair in the bottom half. A 4-run 3rd gave the Wildcats a lead, going up 8-6 but again CAM answered with 3-runs in the bottom half. Glidden Ralston grabbed their last lead with a pair of runs in the 5th but CAM took charge with a 5-run bottom of the 5th and never trailed again. The Cougars added 4-runs in the 6th to separate from Glidden Ralston.
Lucas Christian, Blayce Nelson and Daniel Thooft all had 2 hits for Glidden Ralston with Christian scoring twice, Nelson had an RBI and scored a run and Thooft drove in a pair of runs. Jonathan Bergmeier had a triple and scored and Colton Rohrbeck scored a pair of runs.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 5-9 and they host Exira-EHK on Monday.
